It was a mistake, as far as I can tell - the opening titles still use Industrial Revolution Part II. What a place to make it though, given Connacht used to be perennially in the Challenge Cup.

Seen the usual complaints about the decision to broadcast all Premier League ties (Maidstone United's Twitter account one example) but ultimately the broadcasters ultimately need to balance all varying interests, not just show the six smallest teams left (three all PL ties, two of them hardly inspiring doesn't seem too great though). It is worth noting that this is the first time this season the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool will be able to seen for the majority of the public from their own homes. And all ties will be broadcast internationally with likely a few ending up as streaming options in the UK as well, so there will be a financial award for all teams.

The full FA Cup third round schedule has been published.

In addition the original TV picks, Shrewsbury v. Wrexham will be on S4C at 14:00 on Sunday January 7th, and Chelsea v. Preston (Saturday 6/1 at 17:30) and Manchester City v. Huddersfield Town (Sunday 7/1 at 14:00) will both be shown on BBC iPlayer.

Seem to be quite a few kick offs on Sunday at 2pm so are they bringing back the Final Score goals show the BBC had for a few years, but I don't think had last year?

There was six games at Sunday 14:00 last season, but only a Saturday Final Score. And seven in that slot the previous year. Can't remember if that was one of the years when all the games were broadcast on BBC iPlayer/FA Player due to lockdown and/or outrage over all the games being streamed by betting sites.
Every game will be televised internationally if previous season are to be replicated.

Some more Investec Champions Cup notes.

TNT Sport studio looking really nice for the lunchtime kick off Toulon v Exeter.

Correct music played in the Stade Mayol before the game.

Yes the underlines on the scorebar denote the team colour.

Miles Harrison on commentary - great to hear him back on Champions Cup duty (Stuart Barnes seems to have totally disappeared from broadcasting though).

Hasn't Miles done the Champions Cup for ITV and previously C4 in recent years?

He did for C4, at any rate,  not sure about ITV. Of course throughout the long period Sky held the rights himself and Barnes were the #1 commentary team and always did the game of the weekend (and sometimes more than one!).

Miles Harrison done the Champions Cup on ITV last season.

Good to hear Rupert Cox doing commentary on TNT this evening at Bristol. Although freelance, he did previously do presenting work on Sky, and some commentary when they had the second tier, the championship.

Also, the Bristol v Lyon game, the scorebar was not present until about seven minutes into the game.

Miles Harrison is listed as being the commentator for ITV's coverage on Sunday. He is almost the voice of FTA club rugby these days, commentating on most of ITV's Premiership and Champions Cup games.

Quite the contrast from a decade or so ago where Sky's lead commentator for a sport can happily turn up on BT/TNT. Probably for the best that the relationship has thawed a bit. Also a reflection of where sports broadcasting is these days that Miles has commentated for Sky, TNT, Amazon, ITV and Channel 4 in the last two years or so, and that is not an especially unqiue occurence.

To round up other Champions Cup coverage: RTÉ's coverage used the official intro, but their own graphics for pre- and post-match. France 2 was the opposite, using the standard France TV Sport theme but the official graphics. One would imagine ITV will replicate RTÉ if last year is anything to go by (but which ITV Sport graphics will be used is almost a lottery).
S4C was all in on the official packages, which meant you had new side-by-side with the old stuff when rounding up the Champions Cup and Challenge Cup results together. No English commentary for either match on S4C, despite no other UK broadcaster showing Dragons v. Oyannax.

I'm not that convinced on the animations of the new titles sequence, but great it is 30 seconds long and not a brief 15 seconds version like has often been the case in previous years. The music is epic and deserves the longer playing time.
