Very interesting that TNT Sports has promoted the opening Formula E weekend to have a lot of coverage on TNT Sports 1. It's good to see that the event will get more prominence that could help justify the move away from FTA TV.

Well, I say Channel 5 have new content at 8 - but I'm sure I've heard of a programme with the exact same premise before. Channel 5 would never do such a trick...

Sky Sports' strategy in general does come across as linear first, with a streaming approach like others hasn't really come to them yet. I've seen it happen quite a bit with Bundesliga coverage that kickoffs have been missed due to the preceding Scottish/EFL coverage overrunning or the 1430 Sunday match overunning (especially annoying when they have an ad break at 1629 ahead of the 1630 Sunday kickoff).

Comparing with the likes of Discovery+: each event has its own seperate stream. With their skiing coverage, each race gets a good 15 minute build-up on Discovery+ with the linear channel often joining the second race just ahead of race start. Not much has improved in my time watching Eurosport in recent years, but having a bit more surrounding coverage of the skiing due to Discovery+ streams has been one.

Forgot to include and the edit time has expired...

This strategy will have to change in the short term with extra streaming needed with extra matches from the Super League and the EFL this year, and the Premier League next year, as well as the tennis which has launched with a limited and subpar offering.

Exactly, and they have the basic infrastructure in place to expand upon. I think Sky still see their own value in being their own presentation and production of events rather than streaming multiple events.

Sky have a great on demand offering for their ordinary TV shows and Films. Their On Demand offering for Sport for both live and replay is shockingly poor. As you say it’s going to have to improve one way or another soon.

Following on from the Commonwealth Games losing its 2026 host last year, another major multi-sport event has had its future put in doubt with Barranquilla withdrawing as the host of the 2027 Pan-American Games.

I'm from outside the regions which are part of the PanAm Games, but it does feel like a rather minor or forgotten event. Gymnastics and rugby sevens aside, I can't remember seeing any mention of any big name athletes or those that I follow competing in Santiago last autumn.

To update on the Commonwealth Games, it feels likes the search for a new host has ended up in a cul-de-sac. There doesn't seem any enthusiasm from the UK or Australian Governments to fund a new bid, though there is still hope somewhere in Australia could host. There is early discussions of splitting it up into many smaller championships if neccessary.

Brisbane on Sky Sports Mix from 1:00 then Sky Sports Arena from 6:00, including Nadal vs Kubler not before 8:30.

Sky Sports Main Event joins Auckland at 1:00 including Raducanu vs Svitolina not before 5:30, then Broady vs Rublev from Hong Kong not before 10:30.

And in the end that’s not what happened, with both channels starting with Auckland and now showing Brisbane

A peak audience of 3.71 million yesterday for the darts on Sky Sports - their highest ever non-football audience (and I'd wager it would be in single figures the number of football matches that have reached that).

For comparison, part three of Mr Bates vs The Post Office just about topped the final with 3.9 million, while The Traitors launched with 3.1 million.

When you add those ratings to the Darts ratings, it was a strong night for Linear TV ratings by 2024 standards.

I called it a few days ago, as for Liam post highest for the PDC and Sky but would say the BDO on the BBC had higher ratings so can't say biggest for darts.
