Jermaine Jenas hosted MOTD2 in April 2023 at least, I think he may have done it before as well

Hasn't Manish Bhasin hosted the FA Cup editions in recent years?

Gary Lineker has regularly tipped Jermaine to replace him. Wouldn't be surprised he gets the Champions League role.

Incidentally, he is down to host tonight (the second Sunday in a row). I certainly recall him hosting on either Third or Fourth Round Saturday last year, and of course he has hosted all (every?) highlights shows from the First and Second Rounds since the rights returned to the BBC.

I have recollections of Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman hosting some too. Gabby conspicuous by her absent this week, but she will be plenty busy with the Six Nations upcoming.

Will just have to fit in with his One Show and TNT Sports' commitments on those weekdays if so. And the Formula E coverage might get in the way in some weeks (I think they would be onsite on Thursdays). He's certainly popular with the people upstairs, not sure I completely see what they see though.

Saying that, I'm not sure how many of the other regular BBC football faces would want to expand their roles. Maybe Kelly Somers as someone else who is up and coming and doesn't have a regular role but is well thought of? Good to see her back on Final Score and today's live coverage in the first full weekend after her maternity leave.

When and where do we think the BBC UCL highlights air? The last iteration of the ITV highlights aired at 10pm, which would be a time that theoretically draw a bigger audience than post news. Possibly a BBC Three airing at 10pm followed by post-news on BBC One?

It'll be post-news on BBC1 for sure. Back when ITV aired them at 10pm matches kicked off at 7.45pm and had 2-3 minutes of time added on - now they kick off 15 minutes later and have up to 10 minutes added on, so rarely finish by 10pm anyway.

A massive peak of 7.6 million watched Arsenal v. Liverpool on BBC One yesterday. And they say the FA Cup is dead/dying...

Eurosport have announced their broadcasting team for next week's Australian Open tennis. (Former) Australian tennis personality Nick Kyrgios joins the team. Rachel Stringer replaces Alizé Lim as the London-based host, with Barbara Schett heading up the team from Melbourne. One of those additions is a positive development IMO and the other certainly isn't, I'll let you decide which one is which.

John McEnroe will also be part of the onsite team once again as ESPN are back covering the Australian Open onsite for the first time post pandemic.

Nice to see some live FTA coverage in some nations. The singles finals will have FTA highlights on DMAX in the UK.

For the tour, there are some reports that Sky are testing two tennis channels on Virgin. No idea why this hasn't launched ahead of the season if this transpires. And two channels won't be enough for all the available streams for 85% of the season.

Quite surprised they've signed Nick Kyrgios up considering he often speaks about how much he doesn't like tennis.

They talk about an on-site commentary booth in that article. It would be nice if the main commentators were actually in Melbourne again. The commentary has been done from the UK since Covid. We’ll see what happens when the coverage starts.

Daily Mail reporting that the BBC have won the free to air rights for rugby's super league, on a three year contract. Given that this a rugby league competition, it will be interesting as to if they will use their current rugby league pundits (such as John Kear, Jonathan Davies etc).

Sky Sports will show every game of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which starts on Saturday. Unlike the last edition, which had ten games shown on the BBC, there doesn't appear to be any FTA element this year.
