This is despite an EBU deal covering many other territories in Europe as last year. Coverage will be available via the All Aquatics Eurovision Sport website.

It is worth noting that this will not be a full strength event (in swimming for definite and most likely other disciplines too). This is a bonus championship and the first one ever in an Olympic year. Fukuoka's hosting got delayed from 2021 to 2022 (due to the Olympic postponement) and then deferred until 2023 because of Japan's COVID efforts, with Doha being displaced from 2023 to a bonus event this year.

Further info on why from the BBC's commentator Andy Jameson. Not sure who is more at fault here.

Feels the completely wrong time of year for a World Champs and not a practical point gor competitors to use it as Olympic prep too - nobody wants to be peaking in February.

I don't get the logic in FINA demanding a price nobody is willing to pay. Surely the stance ultimately costs them more than accepting less than what they want - and the longer it is off screens they less valuable the product becomes.

Sky were testing the multi-court coverage on Now TV bonus streams today which is now available on mobile devices, not just smart TVs.

11 February is the first day of the WTA 1000 Doha tournament, with the finals of next week's tournaments getting coverage on Sky Sports Arena on the same day.

The new channel will launch on channel 408, and then move to 407 on 13 February (the Superbowl is on Sky Sports NFL on 11 February so presumably they don't want to move Sky Sports NFL until afterwards).
I've been told it will appear on the EPG from 9 February (which would make sense because EPG changes apparently only happen on weekdays).

I assume Sky Sports Arena will move to 409 and Sky Sports News will move to 412.

Davis Cup...

And they will also have the World Group I Play-off between Pakistan and India, primarily aimed at TC Intl's Indian market, with commentary coming from Tennis Channel US in Los Angeles.

Czechia vs Israel will be on the TC website only, not on the app.
Pakistan vs India will be on TC on Samsung TV Plus only, not on the TC app or website.

The FA Cup fourth round replay TV selections have been announced. In change to normal, the ITV pick is on the main channel (understandable given the teams involved). The BBC tie is very unusual in being an all Championship tie; Nottingham Forest v. Bristol City is the only tie involving sides from two divisions but looks like it has to played on the Wednesday and will clash with Chelsea v. Aston Villa.

Silent Witness and Waterloo Road will be moved from the Tuesday to the Wednesday. After The Flood moves from the Wednesday to the Friday, with Beat The Chasers displaced from the Friday to a later date.

Completely agree on both points. The British team is of decent strength as it's the last chance to qualify for the Olympic relays and they haven't done so yet. The American team is of a very little strength; I saw that college swim duels are still ongoing in the US which means many athetes from the US and more will be there instead. This obviously looks like an attempt to make the World Championships annually rather than biennial - for the UK, Europe and Australia the current system works fine with Commonwealths/European Champs in even non-Olympic years.

The European Championships take place in mid June - a far better slot in bringing people into form and is right at the end of the Olympic qualifying period. Like 2022, it is probable the will get better coverage than the World Championships in the UK.

ITV are using their Rugby World Cup graphics on their Six Nations coverage this season. Intro is the same though.

RE: The Sport Thread - For stuff not worthy of a thread of its own - RhysJR - 02-02-2024

ITV are onsite in Marseille for France v. Ireland in the Six Nations. RIP Ealing green screen studio.

The ITV graphics used for the RWC and their club coverage since are being used for studio segments.

A bit of a bad start to the Under 20s Si Nations on S4C, with the clock appearing in red from the offset, before going off rather quickly.

RE: The Sport Thread - For stuff not worthy of a thread of its own - RhysJR - 02-02-2024

And it looks like the same world feed graphics as all of the last century.

RE: The Sport Thread - For stuff not worthy of a thread of its own - Brekkie - 02-02-2024

It really does pay off being on site - the atmosphere just soaks through the screen and frankly it doesn't matter if it drowns out the pundits - soaking it up rather than listening to punditry sets the scene much better.

Shame it's the same graphics as since forever but after some of the recent efforts on new rugby graphics it is a case of be careful what you wish for. Indeed anyone else find the new generic ITV graphics rather hideous?

RE: The Sport Thread - For stuff not worthy of a thread of its own - Brekkie - 02-02-2024

A couple of new elements to the graphics with the Shot Clock and Bunker Review System being retained from the World Cup.
