One thing I just noticed on the middle of the field for the Six Nations match between France and Italy, it reads "Six Nations - Greatness" rather than using the main sponsor for an alcoholic drink, different regulations on alcohol sponsorships in France?

Yes, alcohol sponsorship has long been banned in France and think the loophole with non-alcoholic versions of alcoholic drinks used instead has been tightened too.

Also tight rules on other things to the extent Young Boys Champions League matches couldn't be shown in France.

Saw from RugbyLeagueonTV on X earlier that the rest of the BBC's live Super League rugby matches for this season (including the play offs) have been confirmed: https://twitter.com/rugbyleagueontv/status/1761757655192752260?t=xLOuD1MoioOAvQuO01P4Sw&s=19

Laura Woods seems to be "the new Clare Balding"; around 18 months ago, she had a radio show on Talksport, hosting men and women's football, plus American Football on ITV, football on Amazon Prime and boxing on DAZN. All of this was after leaving Sky Sports, where she presented football, darts and some other sports.

Same with Balding, she then realised that "you may be freelance, but you can't do it all". Therefore her presenting portfolio today comprises of live FA Cup matches and England women's internationals for ITV and Champions League football (plus the odd Premier League game) and Boxing for TNT Sports. Given that the latter is part of the Discovery network, don't be surprised to see her pitch up as a presenter on their Olympics coverage on Eurosport.

"Young Boys Champions League matches can't be shown in France"; that's a new one on me, what's all that about?

The alcohol sponsorship ban at sports stadia in France has been going since the mid-90's; I remember when the likes of Liverpool, Newcastle and Rangers - all of whom were sponsored by breweries - played European matches in France, they played in shirts without the sponsor on the front of the shirts.

Their shirt sponsor is a questionable financial company. Details here from when they played Man City.

Famously, during the first (1995-1998) and second (1999-2014) periods Heineken sponsored the top level of European rugby, the tournament known everywhere else as the Heineken Cup was called the “H Cup” in France, though even that drew on Heineken’s brand imagery with the red star remaining.

The ITV highlights of the Carabao Cup Final has had some cutbacks like the rest of the ITV EFL highlights this season. Instead of having a bespoke commentary team (usually with Saturday 3pm regular Paul Walker), it used the world feed with BBC #2 Steve Wilson, but with some ITV exclusive lines linking into and out of breaks and presenter Jules Breach's intro. I only watched the top and tail of the show, but the programme must have had a sizeable edit, with the post match coverage only lasting 10 minutes or so and featuring interviews and no punditry (a 60 minute programme, including ad breaks). A nice touch to have a one-off intro especially for the final as well; that music doesn't come across as something for a football highlights show, but I kind of like it for some reason.

In 96/97, Rangers and Newcastle were both sponsored by Centerparcs when playing in France - being another subsidiary of the Scottish & Newcastle brewery at the time.

Thanks for correcting me, I remember now!
