So much for live TV coverage - was billed for BBC2 Wales at 12.45pm but they’re sticking with the network schedule and it’s now iPlayer only.

Very disappointing.

I was surprised when I just loaded up iPlayer and Impossible was on. I thought I must have changed region, but Wales Today was on the other side. I have to agree it is very disappointing to see. Doubt there is much cost saving either, as the studio should still be used for the S4C highlights, and there could easily be crossover in talent between the two.

They managed to put out a quick package on the first half hour (conveniently Wales went ahead just before) on Wales Today, then did a QR code pointer for iPlayer.

Still very frustrating, though, especially having previously talked up showing every game live. No goal clips on socials, either.

That's poor form if it was scheduled originally.

It was indeed, if their press office was anything to go by - quoting from their release a couple of weeks ago.

"The squad will then travel to Kosovo for the second game of their campaign four days later, with BBC Two Wales providing live coverage from Podujevo on Match of the Day Wales from 12.45pm (Kick off 1pm)."

S4C have confirmed their evening highlights will go out as planned.

They advertised iPlayer only post-match on Friday (visually at least, I can't listen at the moment). Though as said above, the press release from mid March said it would be on BBC Two Wales. It should be on linear TV regardless IMO.

Northern Ireland, like Wales, are online only. Surprised neither or both matches didn't get on the Red Button channel at least.

I listenned to the second half on Radio Cymru and was surprised they didn't mention the Ifan Jones Evans programme was on Radio Cymru 2; they only said it was starting late at 3:15. You could just hear Ifan saying goodbye to Radio Cymru 2 before Radio Cymru joined, whilst I think Radio Wales MW rejoined mid song at 3:15.

They’ll have pulled out by this evening then.

Positive development.

The CEO spoke to the BBC yesterday. 2026 potentially a big year for African sport, with Senegal set to host Africa's first Olympic Games (the Youth Olympics, originally postponned from 2022 in 2020). As I saw someone mention, poetic in a way that Africa will potentially bail out the Commonwealth, and nice for the continent to get to host it after Durban being stripped of the 2022 edition.

Do we ever think we will get live coverage on Free to air TV of the UEFA tournaments. Matches like Arsenal V Bayern Munich, Real Madrid V Manchester City would have got massive ratings in the past.
