Very unlikely unless they got added to the Ofcom lists,

The BBC coverage of the World Snooker Championship has been confirmed. No major changes to the on air talent, with Hazel Irvine, Seema Jaswal and Rishi Persad hosting.

The schedules currently have live coverage on BBC Four every night until 9pm of the first week, with snooker-based repeats following on the Monday-Thursday (NB TOTP follows the snooker on Friday April 26th).

No real surprises, think Joe Perry will be a part of the team who isn't mentioned on the press release and Rob Walker will also commentate in the early rounds and players when they exit the tournament or on days off like Mark Allen, Jack Lisowski and Kyren Wilson will make an appearance

Amazed really the late night "Snooker Extra" survives - feels like a bit of a linear relic really.

They do seem to use BBC4 more during the World Championships than the other tournaments. Will be interesting to see if those 9pm shows are dropped to continue coverage - would surely would make more sense to schedule through to 10pm and add the snooker related content in should they finish early.

I think I heard once they're content that helps fill a quota, with IMG Scotland producing the BBC snooker coverage.

Quite likely those 9pm shows will be dropped I'd think. What would happen with TOTP is another matter though. There was quite a bit of internet pushback last year (or during the Masters in January?) for keeping pushing it back until when the snooker rejoined BBC Two after Newsnight.

Going by the PR, Catrin Heledd won't be returning to the Crucible after presenting morning sessions last year - though I hazard a guess Abigail Davies will be back as their features reporter.

Incidentally, we do have an answer as to why BBC2 Wales didn't show the Kosovo v Wales qualifier yesterday.

Under normal circumstances, BBC Wales would provide a feed from the home game free-of-charge to the 'away' broadcaster in return for the same from the corresponding away fixture (this is under the terms of the contract with the FAW)

Unfortunately, there was no broadcaster in Kosovo willing to show the game live (despite there being a full, multi-camera OB in place)

Take note UEFA.

Those numbers put it quite starkly the difference between the reach of FTA and Pay TV, with a run-of-the-mill international qualifier (added interest with a derby but not much tension whether it will not be a England win) outrating two highly entertaining quarter-finals with English involvement.

Despite the England qualifier being an international derby, ITV notably presented from Ealing. It will be interesting to see what the Ealing/onsite split will be when ITV regain the England men's internationals in the Autumn. They were onsite for every single qualifier in their previous run when possible, even in Andorra, Moldova and Malta.

And I do like the back-to-basics interview position.

That makes sense. Good to hear there was a good reason for the subpar coverage.

The S4C highlights was from the studio, with Sioned Dafydd competing with Catrin Heledd for the busiest woman in Welsh broadcasting (and she was filiming in Southampton today, so she's on the road loads in the last week!).

Carl Roberts was onsite conducting interviews on the Radio Cymru broadcast, which must have been used across the S4C highlights etc. S4C and the radio commentaries were offtube for definite.

Abigail will be there.

I listened to it on BBC Sounds and the Wales manager thought it was live on TV in her post match comments.

I'd actually say those figures are more of an argument for fixtures not clashing. Had there only been one English team in the Champions League it would have been a closer battle and had the women not been playing one or both matches may have topped what ITV got.

Of course though the UEFA Champions League going behind a pay wall has done it no favours at all. Kind of hope this upcoming revamped version is such a disaster they have to restore a FTA element the next time around to get it back on track.

Looks like Ireland is one of the few countries now with regular FTA coverage - a quick look on wiki suggests its mainly behind a paywall though the final is FTA in France and Germany - I assume its a protected event.
