RTE are, unusually for an away game, on site at the Olympic Stadium in Rome for Italy v Ireland.

RTE presented the England v Ireland game from Twickenham last year on site which was a first as far as I am aware for an Irish broadcaster. Virgin/TV3 have never presented onsite even for an Ireland men's home match in the 6 Nations

ITV and DAZN are sharing Indian Premier League rights this year according to reports with ITV showing 16 games exclusively and DAZN showing the other 58.

Has the IPL managed more than one season on the same broadcaster? It feels like everybody's had a go by now...

Apart from the BBC Big Grin...

Situations like tonight are just pushing people towards illegal streaming of PL matches. You can just tell by social media that many many thousands illegally stream PL matches featuring the biggest teams. The BBC even sort of nudge and wink it by having player ratings on every match including those not televised.

Both of tonight's matches were originally due to be played on the weekend of the 10th of September, but the whole round was postponed following the death of the Queen.

I believe the TV picks follow what was originally chosen by the broadcasters at the time, even though they're not being played in the blackout window. I agree it's silly, but the broadcasters have paid for a certain number of matches and the league aren't going to start handing out freebies to them.

The whole system of not providing a legal way of broadcasting every match is outdated. For the bigger clubs they is probably hundreds of thousands in the Uk illegally streaming un broadcast matches.

I think it says a lot that I was not aware until a few hours ago that the first LIV Golf event of 2023 happened last weekend. It's broadcast arrangements have changed for this year it appears. The YouTube stream has gone, with access in the UK available via a new streaming website, LIVGolfPlus.com. The website appears free, but it does require you to login (linking a Google or Apple account or entering an e-mail and password).

In the US, it has finally secured a broadcast partner, the CW Network, which to be honest I've never heard of before. The new arrangment hasn't started rosily though, with some affiliates of CW (especially those owned by CBS - a broadcaster of the PGA Tour) not carrying LIV Golf. And the rating were quite atrocious, with many outlets going with the headline that it was outrated by the World's Funniest Animals. It was comprehensively beaten by NBC's coverage of the low-key PGA event the Honda Classic.

In a slightly related point, I think I'm noticing a gradual exodus of live coverage of events away from YouTube streams to organiser's own streaming websites. I would have thought that there would be a decent chance of picking up some casual audience through the YouTube algorithm and YouTube has a very large amount of regular users and availabilty on devices. Case in point, I think every LIV Golf YouTube stream last year popped up on my YouTube homepage at some point, and I had no idea of the event until days afterwards this week.

The graphics introduced last year will be retained, although with tweaks and enhancements, as well as new camera angles.
