I'm guessing it's produced by the event then and picked up by the broadcaster completed, which might explain the poor ad placement.

Back to the football and suspect the Home Nation games being hidden away on Viaplay will get some attention giving how the Scotland v Spain game is playing out. I'd be surprised if Viaplay get more viewers than there are people in Hampden Park.

DAZN going for EFL and Premier League rights and ending the 3PM blackout?

Couldn't read the tweet but this is what the Daily Mail are saying:

Ending the blackout is up to the FA really though, it’s not something the EFL would be able to do on its own accord? Surprised they would issue an RFT without having that question sorted first though presumably it’s well flagged to potential bidders and there’s a contingency if it doesn’t happen.

Virgin Media Television in Ireland have won the official rights to show Bohemians vs Shamrock Rovers on Friday the 7th of April. The one-off League of Ireland match will be broadcast live on VM2.

Less so “won”, that kind of implies a competitive process! The LOI hasn’t had a rights holder for this side of the package for a few years since the demise of eir Sport (though I’m a bit surprised Premier have never moved on it given the LOI plays through the summer) and they’ve been broadcasting on an in-house service. What it seems is VMTV will be showing just this one match and if it works out for them ratings wise they might come back for more.

Also, it’s not their “first ever” match - they did air a few fixtures as TV3 during the period they had the highlights rights back in the early 2000s.

They could say they will move all matches to 12.30/5.30 unless the blackout is lifted.

This is going to be interesting.

I suspect that would make enemies of the fans, it the FA called the EFL’s bluff on it and they were forced to go through with doing it.
