It’s not news or factual so I don’t think the impartiality rule applies. I haven’t been watching it so I don’t know for certain, but it does seem a bit odd for them to take sides. Maybe they’ll cover it on the news later.

They stated a few times that there had been peaceful protests earlier and there was nothing wrong with that. It’s what came after that was different

Only in a news or factual programme or discussion type situation and where its appropriate to do so. Attempting to deliberately scale the fence with the intent to disrupt proceeding and/or be arrested for public disorder is hardly "appropriate",so none of that impartiality stuff applies. It could be argued the actions make their own waves as such, but all that does is prove the old adage that it only needs one person to spoil it for everybody else - and that's what happened when the race was delayed by 15/20 minutes.

I believe the BBC did interview one of the protestors after the race.

Looks like Will Perry has made an extremely quick transfer from presenting BBC Sport updates on BBC News to doing the Sky Sports updates on Sky News. He was seen presenting on BBC News only last week. Another sad but inevitable loss for the BBC.

Isn't he freelance though? Was on Eurosport during the 2018 Winter Olympics and has been occasionaly on talkSPORT and more recently Premier League TV. He was also apparently on Final Score yesterday, so not cut all ties with the BBC.

Yesterday saw the start of this year's World Snooker Championship.

The big broadcasting news is that John Virgo confirmed pre-tournament that he will continue to work for the BBC after this tournament. It was announced last year that both Virgo and Dennis Taylor would leave the BBC commentary team after this year's World Championships. I haven't seen a similar confirmation from Dennis Taylor, so it looks likely he will retire from BBC coverage in a fortnight.
Personally, I'm very pleased with this news as Virgo is still a very strong commentator despite his age/lack of recent playing appearance.

This year's secondary presenter behind Hazel Irvine appears to be BBC Wales' Catrin Heledd. This is her first network appearances after presenting the Welsh Open for BBC Wales for a few years. Evening coverage for the first 10ish days is on BBC Four until 21:00, which is a good use of the channel considering the coverage is being made already and the channel is only showing repeats at that time.

Rishi Persad is on BBC Four now, he returned last year and mainly did the morning slot with Seema & Jason sharing the evening on BBC Four & Hazel mainly afternoons on BBC Two but doubt we will see Seema as she is pregnant and must be due to go on maternity leave

When I saw the Snooker earlier it was Rishi presenting the BBC4 coverage of the evening session.
