Report that DAZN and the EBU have agreed a deal for the Women's Champions League final to air on FTA platforms in 12 countries, including on ZDF in Germany (one of the two countries represented). Sport Business reports that unlike last year, when the final was shown on ITV 4, there hasn't been a repeat agreement for the UK this year as the men's FA Cup final will overlap with the UWCL final. The final will be available for free on YouTube as per normal.

https://www.sportbusiness.com/news/exclusive-ebu-dazn-deal-grants-uefa-wcl-free-to-air-linear-exposure/

As the article reminds us, we'll be coming to the halfway point if DAZN's worldwide deal for the UWCL, at which point the number of games made available for free on YouTube shrinks from 61 (every game from the group stage onwards) to just 19. I am slightly fearful for this, as in the UK in particular a DAZN subscription doesn't really scream value for money at the moment.

PS It's just occured to me that the UWCL final at 17:00 BST and the men's DFB-Pokal final at 19:00 BST will both be scheduled on ZDF for June 3rd if the above transpires. That could be some awkward scheduling.

I fear part of the reason their pay as you go price has rocketed from when it was introduced is people tuning in for particular fights and then cancelling straight after - effectively treating it as a form of PPV. That will happen tonight with the Katie Taylor fight. There’s really nothing that would keep you subscribed unless you’re a hardcore boxing fan, though it’ll be interesting to see what they do with NFL GamePass once that comes on stream later in the summer.

A shame such a deal isn't in place for the men's final. Really do think a final involving British participation should be protected, though do BT still put it on YouTube?

For reasons best known to themselves Sky broke away from Chiefs v Hurricanes to go to Australia v Fiji (Women), then from that to promos, and eventually back to the Super Rugby.

Looks like the cricket has started no changes to the graphics it’s like watching paint dry, they should give it to whisper or sunset + vine.

Not ideal for Sky to have a technical fault during second half extra time of Carlisle v. Bradford in the league Two play-offs. Picture must have been lost for over 5 minutes. Pictures returned during added time, thankfully I don't think any goals were missed.

yep - I think it's part of the rights deal to make it available free on social media. (Don't think it specifies that it has to be YouTube)

I remember they were quite explicit in mentioning that when they first aquired the Champions League rights, not as definite in the current rights cycle, but all three finals were shown for free on YouTube and at btsport.com/final last year so I would expect the same this year.

To slightly tie in with UWCL final being shown FTA across Europe (and on ZDF in Germany in particluar), the men's UCL final will also be shown FTA on ZDF (I believe its on their version of the listed sporting events). It's a bit of a shame that the incoming BBC Champions League deal won't mirror ZDF's current deal (where they show highlights every Wednesday evening of a UCL matchday, then the final live) as the competition has lost a bit of prestige and wider public relevance in the last decade and it would be a boost for all most likely if the final was on prime time BBC One.

Forgot to post this a few weeks back, but a more context on the numbers involved in the FIFA/European broadcasters impasse over rights to this summer's Women's World Cup. Primarially sympathy lies with the broadcasters here, but the difference in valuation is quite stark nevertheless.
