Sports rights are tight not just because of the revenue though, overspill regs make it a big problem if for example UK rights holders are regularly seen to be received overseas.

I reckon at some point in the not to distant future most of the satellite providers will move more to IPTV as a rights measure, as well as cost savings - allegedly James Murdoch wanted to drive it more in connection with Sky Broadband/ The Cloud being prevalent in venues, but there was a reluctance to ditch the dish network at that point. It would certainly make a lot of peoples lives easier in terms of lockout if it was entirely account based.

I think the number on screen marries up to one of the numbers on your sky box so it would be easy to trace for sky to trace.

The England squad announcment has come and gone and no rights announcment concering the FIFA Women's World Cup.

This morning, the governments of the UK, Italy, Germany, Spain and France issued a joint statement urging FIFA and broadcasters to "quickly reach an agreement" on broadcasting the event.

Pretty difficult situation for the BBC here because they haven't been privy to these proceedings, and have had no complaints made to him. He voluntarily chose to step back, but my understanding is as of right now he's still employed, at least that's the way the article makes out. Maybe this information becoming public will mean he doesn't come back, but its unclear to me his status with the BBC right now.

Ultimately, Jack's BBC F1 contract is with IMG Media, I believe. Presuming the schedule isn't changed, he wasn't down to broadcast in Barcelona anyway (since that would clash with Jakata) but the scorched Earth approach to his social media and website suggests that he's essentially done for the foreseeable future.

Not sure why he would have thought he was untouchable, so to speak, Formula E is a notoriously small group of people in terms of permanent accreditation so someone was going to see something. In addition, they do see themselves as more progressive than the swaggering Briatore/James Hunt vibe of old school motorsport, so an example was going to be made ASAP.
