Ah, never thought about them losing weeks as well as games each week - though in rugby's case it probably just means less clashes with weeks when the Six Nations / Internationals are taking place.    I see this year they're having an expanded Premiership Rugby Cup during 5 of the World Cup weeks.

A rather perplexing decision from the Premier League clubs to vote against introducing automated offside into the league next season. I'd certainly view its introduction in European competitions to be a success, with decisions now quicker* and a clear and decisive image presented (on the broadcast at least) showing the decision.

*Except descisions with subjective decisions such as whether the ball was touched, deliberate play etc.

Agreed, surprised they're not copying other leagues but I guess we saw when they were the latest to first bring in VAR they can be a bit luddite with these things. I understand their concerns about it not being *as* beneficial vs the cost but they already pay for VAR implementation + hawkeye goal line technology. Is the cost really that much more?

And from a TV perspective, the benefits for the viewer are undoubted. The animations of the offside decisions are widely shared on social media, and give levels of confidence to offside decisions we've not seen before. Definitely a headscratcher.

The Premier League have always been a bit behind when it comes to that sort of thing though.

The European Games broadcasters have been revealed.

The BBC is listed as the UK broadcaster, likewise RTÉ in Ireland.
Not sure how much linear coverage it will get, but it looks like almost all major European PSBs will show the games.
Eurosport is listed as 'pan-European' but no details if they will only have rights in countries without another broadcaster, or they will only show some event (i.e. like last year's European Championships where they only showed cycling), or if they will show all event non-exclusively via Discovery+.

To clear up the discussion of a few days ago, the related press release states that the EBU have "exclusive media rights" and Mediapro will be host broadcaster.

ITV will once again broadcast some MotoGP races live FTA this season, starting with the Italian Grand Prix this weekend. This year though, they will now take the full BT Sport/TNT Sports coverage. Last year they had their own surrounding presentation (lead by former BBC MotoGP host Matt Roberts) and the world feed commentary.

In other minor rights news, S4C will broadcast all of the upcoming Wales Under 21 football qualifiers for the 2025 U21 Euros.

Apparently the Premier League would only have introduced UEFA's version of automated offside rather than FIFA's. The FIFA version (as seen in Qatar) has a chip in the ball and is faster and more accurate, but also far more expensive. Still the UEFA system is better than the human VAR system of currently.

The live clock on the ticker for the UEFA Champions League Final looks a bit dark in 1080p SDR. How does it look on BT Sport Ultimate?

Looks slightly dark on CBS as well.  I'm assuming that all broadcasters are using the same graphics?

At most then it'll be iPlayer - nothing on any BBC channels or the red button for that week and with Queens and Birmingham Tennis, plus Glastonbury, they've bigger prioirities that week. So arguably even though it'll be free they'll have a lower profile than what BT game them.

The BBC will undoubtedly prioritise the World Athletics Championships and World Cycling Championships (in Glasgow) over the summer, and assuming they have the rights (FINA have been a bit difficult lately) the World Swimming Championships too.
