Well commentary started on the radio, so an audio form of a live blog could be definitely considered commentary.

On the BBC Sport website they've been detailing both WTA and ATP Challenger matches ahead of the start of play, but then they only seems to have been able to show the ATP Challenger matches, while the earlier WTA matches have been on Prime Video but also freely available on the LTA's YouTube channel.

Whatever the problem was with the BBC's coverage of the WTA matches in Nottingham seems to have been sorted today, and they've been showing those matches.

Meanwhile Prime Video, who have rights to the WTA matches tweeted a promotion their coverage for Andy Murray's ATP Challenger match this afternoon, which they soon deleted after it was pointed out they wouldn't be showing it on their platform.

At some point there seems to have been a change in strategy, from negotiating individual deals to expanding the agreement with the EBU that had been in place for a long time, but excluded the 'big five' countries. Not clear what combination that was of broadcasters, FIFA, or the EBU.

Some of those who were reported as being front runners (TF1 & M6 in France, plus a Spanish commercial station) have now missed out on the rights as they've gone to the PSBs.

Most of this is collated in this one PDF which seems to suggest only the ceremonies, athletics, diving and artistic swimming will have a world feed with English commentary - and that not all events are intended for broadcast, with a "lower quality" streaming feed for other events.  Seems a bit of a step down from the last couple of games and of the European Sport Championships.

Also struggling to find any news about Team GB participants which would give an indication of how worthy of broadcast some events, which may be Olympic qualifiers, would be.

I've done some looking and I've come across some more coverage.

The Eurosport listings on Discovery+ (which I think includes non-linear livestreams as well as ES1 & ES2) shows that the BMX events will be shown on delay in the evenings this time next week, but no live streams are there yet. I think there's some non-linear Superbikes already listed for next weekend, so that could indicate they are not showing much from Poland if nothing is up at the moment.

On the Eurovision Sports livestream page, there aren't any additional streams appearing. Though on the Eurovision/European Athletic streaming site All Athletics, all of the athletics events are listed. From what I've seen, all European Athletics events are shown in full there regardless, including last year's European Championships despite the BBC coverage.

There's no scheduled streams on the Olympic Channel website, but there are these two articles with more depth on the British squad (and plenty of other articles etc.):

Elsewhere...
(not exhaustive by any means)

In Poland, the Opening Ceremony looks to be bradcast on TVP1, with blanket coverage of live action on the TVP Sport channel 9with a pause mid-aftenoon for cycling). It odesn;t look like there will be any coverage on the main channels, at least on the opening few days.

In France, the original list of broadcasters said L'Équipe and France tv would show action, but it sounds it will only be L'Équipe. The PDF can't be translated and my French is not that great, but I think they will have exclusive coverage with 60 hours of coverage across the event. Watching portions of France 2's Roland Garros coverage, there was no mentions of the European Games, but they are continuing to air the same trailer for the 2024 Olympics that is reaching its first anniversary, with 12 months to go until Paris.

In Germany, ARD and ZDF were announced to show coverage, but it looks like their coverage will be limited. The only linear coverage I can see is next weekend on ZDF, where the athletics is scheduled to be part of Saturday and Sunday's Sportstudio alongside tennis coverage from Halle. The programme info also says there will be a livestream of the athletics, but no mention of any other sports.

But, ARD and ZDF will be going heavy on two other multi-sport events over the next few weeks. Starting tomorrow will be the Special Olympics in Berlin, with coverage across many German channels, as well as ABC and ESPN in the US. In the UK, the EBU says there will be reports and highlights across BBC bulletins and website. I have seen quite a few features with athletes across BBC Wales Today for example. I guess this is an event that, for most countries in broadcasters, they will take great interest in only when they are hosting it.

Finally, the German broadcasters will in early July be showing an event I've never heard of before, Die Finals. This event is basically an annual version of the European Championships but with many national championships. This year, the event is centered in the Rhine-Ruhr region, whilst athletics and swimming will be in Berlin - so a similar scenario to any furture European Championships with the athletics and swimming basically separate events taking place at the same time. I would find it quite cool if the UK would consider a similar concept, but it would ultimately need the BBC on board before getting out of the planning stages you would think.

Thank you. I know Eurosport used to get in on the EBU rights in it's TF1 ownership days but weren't so sure they still did under Discovery ownership. It's probably the best fit for it.

Yes, agree a multi-sport national championship event is a great idea and turns fairly unwatched individual competitions into something more significant - I think NBC have done it by having track and field and swimming qualifiers run around the same time in the past. Only issue is no two sports have the same qualifying criteria for the Olympics - and not sure if the events have enough at stake to just serve as British Championships.

Certainly worth a shot though, although probably not something the BBC would invest in nowadays considering most coverage of national events, including athletics, is just a stream on the website provided by the national federation.

P.S. C4's commitment to Paralympic Sport outside the Paralympics has dwindled quite a bit in recent years but see there is a "European Para Championships" this August featuring 10 sports.

speaking of multi-sport events, BT Sport will be showing the Special Olympics World Games - which is Berlin this year, but by way of the ABC/ESPN coverage. I'm not aware of it having had much or indeed any UK coverage in the past.

Some new analytical graphics debuted for Sky Sports' cricket coverage today.

There's also a minor graphics refresh, with new colours and paintbrush style backgrounds. The actual graphics look and animate the same as before.

Yeah I think it’s specific to this series they’ve changed the background don’t rate Skys way of covering cricket I always think sunset and vine do a better job they are the masters of cricket. It needs Charles Colvile to be back in the commentary box.

Can't help but think how insignificant The Ashes feels now having not been live on FTA TV in so long. I didn't even realise they were this year until the beginning of the week. Doesn't help the ECB are rushing the series too having decided to prioritise the Hundred in August.

The European Games are being broadcast in Latin America too (but in other regions no word). América Móvil (through Claro Sports) is largely airing the ceremonies live and some selected events, plus a daily highlights show. This limited coverage is because the channel is dedicating much of its resources to cover a similar event, the Central American and Caribbean Games, which start in San Salvador (El Salvador) two days later and will end on July 8.

Locally, the Games will be broadcast by all three national broadcasters: commercial network Telecorporación Salvadoreña (through Channel 4), state broadcaster Canal 10, and Megavisión Canal 21. Tigo Sports will air all events in full, and Claro Sports' deal is also valid there.

In Europe, coverage will be broadcast on GameTime, the internal OTT platform of the World Baseball and Softball Confederation.
