The Telegraph is reporting some major news in the world of football commentary:

Martin Tyler leaving Sky on good terms ahead of the new season with his contract not being renewed, although he is not retiring from commentary yet.

Yet they ran a promo during the coverage for the Nations League final with a "NOT AVAILABLE IN REPUBLIC OF IRELAND" on top of it. What's the point if you couldn't see it as the Malta/England game had the same restrictions?

The Nations League / Channel 4 - it’s nice in a way that they go to the trouble of that animation, other broadcasters would give you the dreaded 04 screen (EPG message “This programme is not available in your region”) and not much else to explain why a show is being blocked. Of course this allows them to ensure the geoblocking occurs on all platforms taking the ROI feed and doesn’t rely on the various platforms to enforce it. It’s not 100% either because Sky viewers if they really want to watch can tune in one of the other regions and those watching on free to air satellite won’t be affected either. Those England games are on Virgin Media TV in any case, while both VMTV and Premier Sports have the Nations League.

BBC have been showing ATP and WTA matches all week as I have dipped in and out of them from time to time

That's going to be a very popular move, Drury's a fantastic commentator and one fans almost universally seem to love.
