Apart from LaLiga TV, which I guess is it’s nearest equivalent (and basically does the same thing for LaLiga as PLP does for the FAPL), is there any other league - in any sport - that has such a well developed what we might call “enhanced world feed” operation?

I don’t think there is tbh PLPs world feed and PLTV channel feeds puts Premier League in top position, their virtual studios have been impressive as well.

Another veteran RTE sports pundit calls it a day, following on from Ted Walsh's retirement at the end of the Punchestown Festival at the end of April (therefore Brian Gleeson is the "last man standing" from the racing team - which included Robert Hall, Tracy Piggott and Tony O'Hehir - who were in their prominence at the same time as the iconic football presentation team).

Seeing Gary Lineker in Madrid and wondering I'd he ended up doing much for LaLiga TV after joining a couple of years ago?

I’ve seen very little of him on it, in fact I think all I saw of him on it was anchoring one El Classico.

That said, LaLiga TV isn’t offered in Ireland as a 24/7 channel any more so for all I know he could have done loads this season. We tend to only get whistle to whistle and the half time analysis for most matches on Premier Sports these days.

Unfortunately it’s really the continuation of a trend, perhaps really the end of it, whereby RTE have been phasing out the older style of punditry popularised by Giles, Dunphy, and Brady, with similar panels coming to the fore in rugby (Hook, Pope, and O’Shea) and GAA football (Brolly and Spillane). Brady was really the last one left standing from that particular group of pundits. I should stress that there’s no suggestion other than Brady decided to retire of his own accord, but really it appears RTE have decided that it’s particular style of lively punditry (never favoured in the U.K. really) has now had its day, and that future panels will probably have a more technical but far less entertaining style of analysis.

It appears that all European Games action will be streamed here:

https://europeangames.tv/

Thanks to the GB Rugby Sevens Twitter account for discovering the link. This site looks another site set up by Eurovision Sport to host their rights, in the same style as All Athletics, which is streaming all the athletics action today as well.

Thanks for that. A shame the BBC have the rights but are doing nothing with them - even sticking up the raw feeds on the BBC Sport website seems too much to ask. That said this is a really nice website with a really clear programme of events too - far better than how Discovery+ handled the Olympics.

Also although it's long been common it feels like more and more events now get staged before the Opening Ceremony at these multi-sport events. There used to be a loose rule that it could just be round robin or ranking events so that nobody would be eliminated before the games actually began, but seems the Beach Handball will determine their semi finalists before the games even begin.

ITV getting a lot of criticism for this.

It's now been moved to 4pm.

RTE’s plans for the Women’s World Cup unveiled:

https://www.rte.ie/sport/soccer/2023/0620/1390235-rte-to-broadcast-every-match-of-womens-world-cup/

Notable that George Hamilton gets a mention, he’s been RTE’s lead TV football commentator for almost four decades but I haven’t heard him on air for a good while and he didn’t do this weeks men’s European Qualifiers.

How have Viaplay handled the Scotland situation today, with the game stopped a few minutes in to the 7.45 kick off due to a sodden pitch and only due to restart now. Guess that'll delay any BBC highlights too.
