Looks like Clare is now in a corner of the BBC Scotland building now the track cycling has ended. Literally a corner too with just a couple of mascots as set dressing.

Turns out Dressage on a Bike is as boring as it sounds - Flatland seems to be the event for people who can't do the tricks in the air on the ramps.

More high-profile right deals for the Saudi Pro League as the season begins today and more international players bolster the league's prominence:

In the UK, DAZN will air up to three "marquee" matches each match day, including one from Ronaldo's Al-Nassr. The "landmark" rights also cover Canada, Germany, Australia and Belgium.

Canal+ has a deal serving both France and French-speaking Africa (succeeding Altice's shorter-term deal), whilst Setanta Sports (which still exists in the former Soviet states, barring Russia and Belarus) has secured another for its respective regions. Additional rights have been sold to Cairo Communication/LA7 in Italy, Unidad Editorial/Marca in Spain and a renewal deal with Sport TV in Portugal.

The latter of which, as a sidenote, just had a small update over its brands, separating the wordmarks from the abstract S symbol (used since 2021) with inverted boxes.

That Setanta Sports (Eurasia) is no longer affiliated with Setanta/Premier Sports in Ireland - think it was sold to a Georgian company a couple of years back. Interesting that they’ve kept the very Irish “Setanta” name, though the logos been changed (if still black and yellow). Not sure if they’ve bought the brand outright as the other remaining Dublin-based operations are mostly Premier Sports these days - they’ve also a women’s focused “W-Sport” channel in Benelux.

The new La Liga graphics in action. The colour scheme is preferable to the previous set (I found them too dark and dingy) and the animations are nice. The scoreboard alternates betwwen the monochromatic logos and the codes; this occurs at infrequent intervals of usually four or 12 seconds. I think this will be very distracting and potentially annoying once it catches your eye, especially at it changes quite often and not the same interval. The block that displays colour was not much use in this game (white/red v. black/red clashes with the graphics themselves) so I'll check back in the later game to see if it's better with more forgiving colours.

The hashtag that was constantly in the bottom right of the screen last season is back, but didn't appear to 25+ mins in this match; the hashtag is now a far more acceptable size. There is still replays when play is still live - the picture-in-picture below is what is used then. The statistics on top of the pitch still remain.
































There is also a press release with more detail on the graphics and presentation refreshes. I bet no one can keep a straight face all the way through it - it features half a million buzzwords and cases of press release/design speak, and even the pantone code of the main shades of red and blue!

According to the ITV press pack every match of the Rugby World Cup is on ITV1. That would be a surprise. Are matches like Japan v Namibia really going to be on ITV1 on a Thursday night at 8pm?

It would be if it was for the (Men's) Football World Cup, unless it was a "clashing" final group game, which has to be played simultaneously with another game in the same group.

Though I agree with your point; all home nations games, plus those involving "big hitters", such as New Zealand, France, Australia and South Africa, being default set on ITV1, but having Japan v Namibia on that channel is highly debatable.

I fear the “LL” logo just doesn’t scream “La Liga”, the colour wheel having been used for so long (having been carried over from the days when they still preferred to be known as the “LFP” instead of “La Liga”) but the graphics really needed a freshen up. That they’re better than the last set is really the only nice thing to be said, but that wasn’t trying hard because the last set was just so monochromatic. Wonder what LaLiga TV is like now since the rebrand, we don’t get it any more.

I see the press release calls La Liga a “football ecosystem” rather than merely a league, that’s notions! Also LaLiga 2 gets a turquoise version of the same graphics.
