BBC News Pres: 2022 - Present

Joanna's farewell is the most watched video on the BBC News website at the moment.

she was a down to earth presenter who told you the news from the heart, a friendly face and a face that you could rely on when you tuned in, she will be missed at the BBC

hopefully she wont be off our screens for long, and she will appear somwhere soon Smile

Wow. That was a great sign off from Joanna Gosling. It was one that just oozed professionalism and integrity in every way. What a classy lady. I do hope that Joanna will be returning to our screens very soon and has a brighter future ahead of her.

CNNi would be smart to snatch her and Wilcox up to bolster the London base and CNNi overall. Instead of the endless simulcasts. But seeing as BBC is merging into one service are we surprised CNN is basically doing the same. Unfortunately the story balance is off kilter.

The NC is not taking the Six today, but instead simulcasting with WN to take the Tyre Nicholas family press conference. The flipper was stuck at the BBC News website URL until the quarter headlines...

In the overnight WN simulcasts, video of Tyre Nichols beating being released was the top story taking precedence over terror attack in Jerusalem...

A couple of weeks ago you could see the World News flipper in the overnight simulcasts, with various time values from around the world alongside the UK time:

UPD. Apparently tonight the ticker is also that of World News, however the time values line is not present

While the police brutality story is an important story the BBC will always prioritize US stories because that's where the ad revenues are. The news priorities of BBC WN have been very disappointing at times. Like making Angelina Jolie's mastectomy the top story or deciding a story explaining the peculiar South Korean trend of people watch others eat food online was important enough to be played at 10 minutes after the TOTH. And it was unlikely they had to change the running order due to tech problems because they had that order for next bulletin. These cuts to the BBC's funding and heavier reliance on advertising seem to be affecting the BBC's editorial decisions. I liked it when BBC World/World News was "Putting News First".

The ticker being stuck on those would be an improvement on headlines like "The Bear Who Couldn't Stop Taking Selfies", "How to Watch 2023's Oscar-nominated Films" or some soft story with a proper headline being the third story. It's absolutely ridiculous this has been going on for at least five years! It makes BBC WN look not serious and substandard.

Strange. Ben Brown was in News/world from. 1000-1300 studio C, and 1300 on bbc1 (Studio E).

Martine Croxall took over in studio C. But I guess it stops a strange changeover after the bbc1 news ends?

Weekend BBC 1 bulletins have not been shown on the News Channel since before Christmas. World & the NC are now in joint simulcast every weekend from 7pm Friday until 6am Monday, except for the Friday Ten, Saturday & Sunday 6 - 10am.
