Not that noticeably different from the usual set.

Really not bad. A panoramic view of St Helier for the new set would be nice?

I think they should stick with the temporary set, it looks like a better cupboard than the one under the stairs. Dodgy

Just paint that crate black holding up the mini coffee table, Reith the sticker on the laptop, and it's job done.

However, they need to remember that having 'a background out of focus' on the wall behind you doesn't give an impression of space.

We seem to have established it is likely that a limited number of specialist crews are touring the regions and/or nations to install the new LED sets.

Given that so far things have been following a pattern of only two English Regions being de-camped simultaneously, that would point towards two crews.

Presuming that Glasgow and Hull have now got the LED set installation teams that were previously in Nottingham and Birmingham, then that would seem to support the idea that St Helier won't be getting an LED set (as if their pokey little studio doesn't also support that idea!)

I would love it if they did something like having set walls made from green chromakey material in lieu of LED screens, so that the keyed backdrop could animate to replace the skyline vista with story-specific graphics etc just as in other regional studios. But this is probably about as likely as Lord Lucan being found, sadly.

I'm not sure whether the Glasgow work would be done by the same team - BBC Scotland is a bit different in capability to the average English region and I believe that it was mentioned that they'll be out for a bit longer as there was more than just a set change taking place. Based on our assumptions, the Nottingham team moved to Hull the following week - so we'd assume the Birmingham team is now moving the temporary set to another English region for start next week.

I'd also be a little surprised if any work in Jersey was being done by a mainland team, seems a bit of an expense. I think you're right to be sceptical of an LED set-up - I think there are limits to how close cameras can be to those kinds of screens. But I really do not think a regional CSO set-up would be any good, especially not with the kind of facilities they have in Jersey - not just would I expect a lot of dodgy angles and poor-quality fake sets, but you do actually need a bit of space for CSO to work properly. Standard CSO set-ups require the lighting to create a consistent colour and eliminate any shadows, which would be a bit tricky in a space that isn't exactly studio quality in terms of space or technical capabilities. You could try a rear-lit CSO set-up, as per the weather studios at NBH, but I'm not sure whether that can work in 3D.

Only a boat or plane ride more. Thing is, is there anyone local who can do it?
