French TV - Presentation Discussion

Monday's edition of game show Tout le monde veut prendre sa place is being bumped to France.tv only due to the inauguration at Villers-Cotterêts.

I'm not sure if Chacun son tour is also being added to France.tv as well?

Big news coming out of France 3: the editor-in-chief of the reputed industry newsmagazine La Lettre Pro de la Radio, Frédéric Brulhatour, has received a tip from the public broadcasting unions, that a change of name for both France 3 and France Bleu (the regional radio network from Radio France) is nearing: both services are planning to rebrand to Ici (the name of their common digital brand, and already used for France 3's regional news slots and for the France 3/Bleu morning shows (Ici Matin), and the move will happen on August 26 (for the radio side) and September 9 (for the TV network).

A paywalled interview was given to Ouest France by both France Télévisions and Radio France’s Directors General in October. Although both channels will retain mostly separate scheduling, plans call for more dual-broadcasts of radio programs on television in a regional basis, and common coverage of regional events. The radio side has also plans for a new entertainment strand.

Radio-Canada have their linear services branded with 'ICI'. The plan (in 2013 or so) was to re-brand everything under 'ICI' and drop the Radio-Canada name. However, this didn't go down so well, so 'ICI Radio-Canada' was born as a compromise.

I wonder if the French plan will meet similar resistance (i.e., will the French be upset at the dropping of 'France' from the network names?) Possibly not as the overall structure is still Radio France / France Télévisions.

I don’t see the point of rebranding France 3. The French plan will get some degree of pushback, expect a compromise like the Canada situation.

AB1, a French channel aimed at young adults, has launched a completely new look and logo designed by Pole Graphique and in-house.
Here's a look at one of their new breakbumpers.

Correction on the post here: The new look was designed by Pôle Graphique & Vidéo de Mediawan, Mediawan's in-house designers.

On the new look, Lenodal has an X thread with an exclusive write-up: it was designed to be reflective of the network's "family-oriented" classic TV programming schedule (mainly focused on series from the 80s to the 2000s, plus some WWE content), hence the branding being oriented to reflect 80s/90s design and music trends, plus the new logo serving as a "sticker" device.

Back to other things now: Jarry has announced he's resigning from the presenter post at TLMVPSP, a move he announced on an Instagram reel. His resignation comes as the game show is finally finding back its feet in the ratings after the difficult Laurence Boccolini period; however, with plans for a year-long stand-up tour at indoor arenas across the country, he will record his final shows next month, saying goodbye shortly before the Paralympic Games.

A paywalled article from Le Parisien's Benoît Daragon says Simone Harari (the show's executive producer) is studying to bring RTBF presenter Sara de Paduwa to France; at RTBF, she has presented all kinds of programming, from current affairs to entertainment, and has been named three times Belgium's best presenter. In contrast, Bruno Guillon, host of Chacun son tour, is out of the list (Daragon is told Guillon remains in that game show to retain its good ratings at 11h30). Samuel Étienne (Questions pour un champion), Jean-Luc Lemoine (Samedi d'en rire), Damien Thévenot (Télématin), Vincent Cerutti (former TF1 presenter) and Julia Martin (France 3 weather presenter) are also in shortlist.

Former host Nagui was a guest at Aurélie Casse's C l'hebdo this weekend, and he told he was in close contact with Jarry when he took over as presenter in October, and he told him he planned to do just a year of the game show, and to retire in June from the presentation duties; in fact, Daragon's article said Jarry signed just for a season.

I think the help from Nagui has helped Jarry to revitalise what was dire when Laurence Boccolini was cast as Nagui's replacement.

Jarry has been fantastic with the format adding in more comedy elements to the show missing under Boccolini and having a teenage version of the show on Sundays has broken up the game so that everyone including the person in the chair can have a bit of fun without the risk of losing their place.

I hope France Télévisions offer Jarry an offer he can't refuse to continue with filming of the game show post June otherwise I fear we'll get another generic game show host who is capable, but doesn't have the comedic qualities of Nagui or Jarry.

Bruno Guillion would be a great choice, but he has commitments to Chacun son tour which along with some of the contestants, some of which have been filming that show since the first episode have made it a fun watch.
