Yes - they opened a Central shop in Derby and Nottingham - with much publicity.
Sadly, it was just a front desk and a hired hair do. There was no merch to buy at all.

I think I had a "Central News East" car window sticker....

I was just as dissapointed too.

Where were those Central shops? I've no memory of them so they must have gone by the 90s.

I remember Lincoln having a Yorkshire TV shop tho - alas closed on weekends. Didn't need to go in to enjoy the pictures of Richard Whiteley, Mike Morris, etc on the wall!

Looking back it's safe to say that there have been a handful of presentation packages that I can call some of my favourites: Sky One's 2005 and 2008 packages, Carlton's 1999 set stands out brilliantly to me, BBC Three's Blobs package, E4's 2013 presentation also holds up pretty well today, and last but not least the Personality 2s.

The 1991-2001 BBC Two package is unmatched though. A perfect storm of creative visual design that is timeless. I feel like some people overlook this but sound design is equally important in what makes a good presentation package and the 1991s 2s achieved it superbly to the point where it still feels fresh today.
