I think it was last year. Presumably it's because they want a night race for pretty lights and if they did it Sunday night, it'd be on a Monday morning/during the working day in Europe/Asia which would presumably get fewer viewers (and which broadcasters might not love).

Yes, it was also pretty late on Saturday night so that it would be Sunday morning in Europe.

Yes, qualifying and the main race falls at 6am our time. Works better for C4 than a race in our primetime which results in highlights in the early hours.

As others have said, it takes place at 10pm Saturday night local time so it becomes an (early) Sunday morning race for the big audience in Europe, plus having it at night looks so much better for Las Vegas than a daytime race.
Same happened for the first race there in November and is again this year.
