It's official: Stuff will be making Three's 6pm bulletin after July 6. It'll be an hour on weekdays and half on weekends.
It'll not be Newshub in name, but they'll use their existing studio before building their own, as well as hiring about 40 Newshub people.

It's quite a price to pay in terms of job losses - and Stuff is itself not in the best of health financially - but at least it will crucially retain some kind of TV news plurality.
The deal doesn't include the Sky Open news at 5.30pm, which still appears to be up in the air.

Presumably the 6pm rates better than moving it to another time away from TVNZ’z last remaining bulletin.
