TV Predictions 2023
#1

As is tradition: www.tvliveforum.com

Quote:I'm a Celebrity returns to the jungle
ITV/BBC choose to release shows on demand on a full time basis after trialling it during in 2021 (Channel 4 did choose to launch Hollyoaks on All 4 first full time, however)
Channel 5 repackage another show under a new name
New BBC One idents launch in the summer (June or July)

[*]Channel 5 repackage yet another show under a new name, probably about supermarkets, Yorkshire, the royals or a combination of the three
[*]Good Morning Britain carries on with their rotation of guest presenters, not choosing a full time replacement for PM
[*]ITV launch a new brand package across all channels, replacing the Multiverse set
[*]AJ Odudu hosts Big Brother on ITV2 with Rylan hosting a side-show

What does that say about a channel if it scares fish? Just talk me through that.

Here are my predictions.

- ITV News, CITV and ITV Sport receive the rebrand treatment.

- BBC News rebrands later in the Autumn.

- CBBC and CBeebies get the Chameleon logo and presentation, though the idents remain, altered with the new logo.

- ITV do not recommission The Masked Dancer, but possibly commission a second yearly series of it's more successful parent show.

- The entire Channel 4 family rebrand around April.

- Rylan and AJ Odudu to host ITV2's Big Brother, with Roman Kemp and/or Fleur East hosting a BOTS/BBLB style show and a live feed on ITVX.

- TalkTV and GB News merge, with Murdoch taking on the GB News faces in the hours previously used to simulcast TalkRadio and for Farage at 7 and Wootton at 9, whilst Piers Uncensored and First Edition remain in the evening.

- The Traitors is recommisioned for a second series and continues to do well for BBC One.

- Sky News is revamped as a response to it's low ratings in peaktime.

Traditional TVS Archive Prediction:

Archive paperwork found in a time capsule buried beneath some building somewhere that Disney don't yet know they own. Smile

Since it doesn't look like I made any predictions last year, let's go for 2023:

You Bet! gets revived with more modern challenges, like who can go the longest without gawping at a phone.
Challenge gets a rebrand or new ident(s) that stop featuring elements from shows they haven't aired in a month of Sundays
Desmonds gets rebooted.

UKTV's corporate logo changes to the logo used on UKTV play.
Channel 5 have an ident refresh.
Quest and Quest Red close.
ITVX start showing regional news.
Eden, Albi and Gold start on Freeview (that's predicted every year, one of us will get it right eventually!)
The BBC agree to run hyper-local news programmes on Local TV.

ITV2 to go it's own way with it's presentation late next year (they were pretty quick to ditch the initial package in both of the last two corporate rebrands).
ITV News, ITV Sport, CITV and the font used on programme credits to all be updated together in the Spring.
UTV's name to be axed (it's an afterthought on the new ITV1 pres, and ITV News's rebrand gives them the ability to excise the last traces).
Challenge to get a new look (it's overdue, the current one is their longest serving package ever, and woefully out of date).

Channel 4 either closes or rebrands the Box channels, likely the latter into "4Music [genre]".
E4 rebrands into 4Reality, while E4 Extra becomes E4, with promos announcing the move. Viewers complain as the new E4 isn't in HD anymore and the demand results in Channel 4 inevitably caving in and replacing a 4Music genre channel that gets less viewers and is automated (likely Kerrang/4Music Rock).
E4 Extra goes 24/7, abandoning Teleshopping.

Sky launches Sky Kids channel on 617 (or replaces BabyTV on 609), WBD attempt to weasel out of the Sky contract by making coverage agreements and/or forcing HBO Max [tentative] to be exclusive to Sky platforms. Sky loses the rights to The Simpsons, but keeps Sky Showcase running and/or is replaced by Sky Max on 106. Sky finally sell shares in Comedy Central, leaving all of Paramount UK's assets fully owned by Paramount.

ITV finally rebrand CITV, after woefully still using the 2013 logo for nearly a decade. An "ITV Sport" channel is launched on ITVX, mainly just repeats of sport highlights and a possible surplus feed for extra coverage.

BBC News merges with World News, however technical faults and breaking news for UK viewers means a lot of programming gets inevitably skipped and rescheduled. CBBC finally adopts the Chameleon style, while CBeebies controversially gets rid of the bugs (or incorporates bugs into live-action scenarios). BBC Three commissions more experimental programming a la 2013, while BBC Four airs more indie and ethnical films.

Channel 5 enters the kids market with their own 5Shake channel, likely replacing the slot of the former Smithsonian Channel. Free to air programming of Milkshake, Nick jr and Nickelodeon favourites airs on this channel, unlikely the channel will replicate the format of 10Shake, as airing adult programming on kids channels is forbidden under Ofcom's guidelines. 5ACTION incorporates more movie premieres, heavily pushing Paramount+. My5 gets an all needed refresh, with new UI and 1080p support and possibility of a new Channel 5 logo?
