Will it also be enough to bring back SNL in October, or are the performers part of the actors union?

As many of the SNL team also do movies and as the show contains sketches I'd be surprised if they weren't part of the screen actors guild- and even if they weren't the SAG would probably think they should be and put huge pressure on them. Also the issue of guest hosts aswell.

As we've seen with the daytime talk shows it only takes one person to be part of the union for the show to be under huge pressure not to return, regardless of whether the rest of the cast and crew are covered by them or not.

Here's what Deadline is saying:

Quote:SNL, like the daily late-night shows and reality shows including Dancing with the Stars, is covered under SAG-AFTRA’s Network Code, which means that theoretically everyone could come back to work.

However, given SAG-AFTRA is still waiting to return to talks with the AMPTP and remains on strike, certain cast members might be unwilling to go back to work until that is resolved — which is thought to be at least two to three weeks away at the earliest.

Would the likes of Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost, Ego Nwodim, Kenan Thompson and Bowen Yang – some of whom have been regulars on the picket lines – be willing to return under these circumstances? Will all of them return for Season 49?

Someone at Sky will be please about this, particularly as 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon' (especially as the programme was in the headlines recently), 'Saturday Night Live' and 'Last Week Tonight' are usually shown the following day on Sky Comedy.

SNL returns on October 14th. Pete Davidson is presenting with Ice Spice as musical guest, Bad Bunny is presenting and the musical guest the following week.

According to Cheddar News, all of the cast are returning with one new addition Chloe Troast as a featured player.

Dr. Phil McGraw, whose synonymous daytime show ended back in May, is to be setting up a new cable channel, under the name of Merit Street Media. The flagship show, Dr. Phil Primetime, airs February 26, 2024 at 8pm.
www.meritstreetmedia.com

Looking at the domain information, the site is registered by Trinity Broadcasting Network, the Christian TV network. Will McGraw be gobbling the existing network, or be a major lease in programming hours?

Is there any information on if Dr Phil's new show would run under the same format as his old one?

Parallel to all the talks on Paramount today, seems like they're looking to offload BET again, with Blackstone currently leading the race:

Looking at the initial press release, it's much of the same. If there's something new, I'd imagine him whining more on the loss of 'traditional family values' etc. I didn't associate him with hard-hitting interviews, but apparently that's another part he'll keep in the new show.
