On The Ball, The ITV 7, Wrestling from Crewe. You think about these and the first image is of good old DD. RIP

Nice to see Matt Berry paying tribute, and alluding to how Dickie Davies clearly had some influence on the character of Stephen Toast.

Which ITV region was responsible for World of Sport, and was it a case of of the local Region filming the sport depending on where it was taking place?

It was LWT job to over see it, however the Horse racing used the local ITV crews to cover the races. Im sure YTV had to cover racing one week as TT crews were busy with football.

Thames produced Bank Holiday editions, still with DD presenting but under the name Bank Holiday Sport Special. Presumably the different name explained away differences in the set and presentation sufficiently for the casual viewer.

I remember when the South Bank studios closed a few years back- ITV had a retrospective of everything that was filmed on TLS and reunited Dickie with a couple of his World of Sport typists- it was a really emotional show just for something about a set of studios.

In the actual WoS studio as well - then being used by Good Morning Britain.
