Don’t know if anyone else has noticed but NHK World has launched a new studio in New York, which I believe to be their first one outside Asia. Catherine Kobayashi hosted an edition of NewsLine from there.

It's been going for a while. The closing music on the bulletins is a loop that doesn't resolve with the New York editions. There's also no surreptitious button press at the end of the bulletin with the New York editions.

As unusual as it is, I really do love that wooden set.

Probably worth saying that NHK does have
some more conventional-looking news sets, like the main evening News 7 comes from a fairly standard looking virtual set.
But, yes, there are lots of quite interesting ones. This is the daytime "news from around the regions" programme, for example:

Whilst that pink and blue set looks a bit bonkers, it's actually for WNI (Weathernews Inc), a weather channel - and it looks rather nice on air. This first capture below is of the "Laundry Forecast" - dry weather = put the washing out!
You can watch live on YouTube here:

Finally, a historical aside - SMG had a deal with WNI for Scottish and Grampian weather forecasts in the early 2000s:
