'Cheap & Nasty' is the phrase you were looking for.  Tongue

The one at Millbank used by the BBC is basically a chair in front of a locked-off camera with a plasma screen behind which fills the entire background of the shot.

It doesn't have to be bigger than your living room, probably actually quite smaller.

I think the UK term would be contribution studio or DTL studio (Down the line).

In the US they are called Flash Studios as we learnt during Covid Era.

Where Sky live for the full 5amUK/MidnightET hour, or did MSNBC get a Press Preview repeat at 0530 as with a normal Sunday morning?

Kim Brunhuber did only 3am hour from Atlanta, as Michael Holmes stayed till 3am.

CNN This Morning features Wolf Blitzer in London alongside Victor & Amara in Atlanta, at least in the opening shot.

Moreover, Domestic schedule now says that 8-11pm will have AC360 and CNNI will take over from 11pm, thus culling all recorded shows, including much-prepped The Whole Story.

Looks like a bit overkill, especially if there will be no further developments, this risks turning into a repetitive punditry.
The domestic schedule doesn't appear to list AC360 anymore between that slot but CNN Newsroom instead.

There are several terms for ‘Broom cupboard’ [which, incidentally comes from the original camera-in-a-continuity-booth solution for in-vision childrens presentation pioneered by the BBC (in the UK) with a certain Phillip Schofield - he joked that he was presenting from a broom cupboard and it kind of stuck]

Anyway, the terms:

DTL Studio
Remote Studio
Newsroom Camera
Contribution Studio (more usually a radio term)
Pres Studio
Self Op (sometimes Self Op Camera)
Clip Studio
Flash Studio

16 hours of CNN Newsroom back to back might be a record!

I'm going to be really pedantic here - he originally coined the term in reference to the spare continuity booth associated with NC3 (the backup Network Control room which also doubled as Sub-Control, a gallery without a studio for mixing OBs etc) which was smaller and somewhat antiquated compared to the NC1 Con.  Over time the term stuck and the origins were forgotten.
