Gladiators re-revival

Turns out the other answer to the question, 'Why would a man in his early sixties help get a younger man, who he has known since he was a child, a job in television?', is because he is his father.

Are you seriously comparing him to Schofield?

I believe it was intended as satire, rather than a comparison.

Guy Mowbray, the BBC's lead football commentator, has been confirmed as the commentator for the new series.
He follows in the footsteps of John Sachs and Alan Parry in the ITV and Sky versions.

A bit of me was hoping they'd get John Sachs back, seeing as they're making an effort to resemble the original series. Having heard him not too long ago on Epic Gameshow, he still sounds on tip top form.

maybe he was asked but maybe he declined becuase he wanted to be remembered for the good old days, also he cant be a spring chicken so maybe that could of been a factor too?

You don't need to be a spring chicken to commentate, the late great Murray Walker was still commentating into his 80s, having jacked it in full time in 2001 and then returning part-time in one guise or another; in some ways he never really gave it up.

Any updates on the Gladiators reboot? not much has been mentioned as of late, I suspect it will either air after Survivor or when Strictly finishes its current series, thoughts?

Gladiators, Gladiators, on the BBC
Where warriors compete, and everyone's free
To watch the action, and cheer on their team
Though now it's on the BBC, it's not quite the same

Gladiators, Gladiators, on the BBC
It's the same old show, but it's not quite free
The budget's been slashed, the sets are shoddy
And the presenters are all a bit dodgy

There's Wolf, who's still trying to be cool
And Jet, who's still looking like a fool
And then there's referee John Anderson
Who's still blowing his whistle, like a madman

Gladiators, Gladiators, on the BBC
It's the same old show, but it's not quite free
The budget's been slashed, the sets are shoddy
And the presenters are all a bit dodgy

But still we watch, for some unknown reason
Maybe it's nostalgia, or maybe we're just teasin'
Or maybe it's just because we're bored
Whatever the reason, we're hooked, and we can't afford
To miss a single episode

Gladiators, Gladiators, on the BBC
It's the same old show, but it's not quite free
The budget's been slashed, the sets are shoddy
And the presenters are all a bit dodgy

Gladiators, Gladiators, on the BBC
It's not quite the same, but it's still a bit of a spree

Hey, how can you judge it when it hasn't aired yet? Plus the actual Gladiators are all new, no Wolf or Jet. And dodgy presenters? I don't know about Barney as he's pretty much only known for Breaking Dad, but there's nothing wrong with Bradley Walsh.
