Gotcha, thanks for the clarification. If the office space that the newsroom studio occupies is really being given up it doesn't make sense to continue using a live feed of the old set behind the anchors instead of opting for a shot of the Atlanta newsroom, to keep the newsroom feel, or something different altogether. To your point, it also makes no sense to shutter the smallest studio they have to save money while spending money on a permanent set for "CNN This Morning" especially if people are still working alongside it.
Looking at this image courtesy of @Oliverdarcy - the only floor space they'd be freeing up would be to that of the newsroom floor, thus extending the size of the newsroom itself.
