I think they were making a broader point about media intrusion and specific allegations about Sky and ITV if you read the whole thing:
Quote:It saddens us to think that one day we will have to explain to them that the press & members of the public accused their dad of wrongdoing, misquoted & vilified friends & family. This is absolutely appalling, they have to be held accountable this cannot happen to another family. “We tried last night to take in what we had been told in the day, only to have Sky News and ITV making contact with us directly when we expressly asked for privacy. They again, have taken it upon themselves to run stories about us to sell papers and increase their own profiles.
For clarity, it was Sky’s Inzy Rashid who sent the text to the family last night - he was confident enough to declare he’d made contact in last night’s output.
Inzy has had a chequered record on and off air, what with his lengthy suspension for breaking Covid rules by going to Kay Burley’s 60th birthday party in 2020, and a big internal row he triggered a year ago when he claimed Sky’s initial coverage of the Ukraine war was “too white”. People in the industry also have strong opinions, shall we say, on his journalistic methods and general behaviour.
