As an aside, I do find Tom Allen's insistence on saying "You're listening to Tom Allen in for the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Cinch" really quite annoying. It's just so clunky, I understand that it's vital from a brand perspective, but there must be a slightly smoother way.
You won't have to put up with that this week while Chris is off, because Tom isn't covering. Instead it will be Nick Grimshaw in for the Chris Evans Breakfast Show with Cinch.

No different to Lorraine really and usually a guest host largely follows the same format of the show they're covering, however messy tge resulting branding may be.

Now that's interesting. Perhaps there is some loophole somewhere in some contract, be it Chris Evans' contract or one between the Wireless Group and the sponsor, stating that only the shows presented by Chris himself are ad-free. Sounds like a win-win for both Chris and the station: only being ad-free when he's there makes him look good, and the station gets extra ad revenue during the weeks he's on holiday. Unusual but very clever move.

I assume radio is like TV with a quota of ads across the day and therefore ad time can be redistributed later in the day - to lower rated slots granted - but not lost completely.

How many ad breaks are allowed per hour on British commercial radio? Is there a limit to the amount of minutes or the amount of breaks which can be included in a given hour? Thanks.

As an aside, Wireless rebranded as News Broadcasting earlier this year, which includes Talk TV and the national radio stations based at London Bridge. However, the Wireless brand is still used in Ireland for the ROI owned stations and U105 in Belfast.

It was even advertised as well as being 'Ad-Free' back in 2019 when his show was getting ready to launch.

There are no restrictions ……. Major groups seem to have between 15 and 17 mins an hour.
Often 3 breaks an hour…
(Bearing in mind COSTA ….. I’m very surprised there is nothing for radio )
