A thread to discuss TV / Radio sports rights when announced as it doesn't fit in with the discussion on presentation.

So to start, ITV pick up La Liga rights in a 3 season deal. They will show 10 live games per season.

Marcus Buckland confirmed today that the US Open will return to Sky from 2023

It was reported that they were interested back in April in The Times.
The article also suggested they were interested in the rights to the ATP and WTA tours which Prime Video has until the end of 2023 and 2024 respectively.

I wrote a piece this evening for a tennis website that explains what it means for tennis fans.

Virgin Media Ireland have announced today that they have acquired the official Republic of Ireland rights to broadcast the Autumn Nations Series Rugby tournament in November for the very first time.

Coverage of these matches also include Ireland 'A' vs New Zealand in the RDS and Munster vs South Africa.

This could also mean for Ireland Rugby fans who are either in the UK or watch Channel 4's coverage in Ireland. It could mean that Channel 4 could also be losing these rights to Amazon Prime Video.

Is there any official chance for the Ireland rights for this tournament to be updated this year for Channel 4 again because the last set of rights for these rugby matches have only expired this year?

Similar broadcast arrangements for Sky Germany and Sky Italia will continue to broadcast Formula 1 until 2027.

The new deals also includes access to live races from Formula 2, Formula 3 and Porsche Super Cup Championship.

But of course like most of these things its all about the money.

It appears that, according to the Broadcast Partners page on the EPCR website, RTÉ Sport are taking on the new FTA rights deal for The Heineken Champions Cup in the Republic of Ireland. Newstalk have taken up the Irish radio rights for these matches.

Channel 4 however is apparently no longer a broadcast partner for the rights to the games in the UK according to that website. The only options for watching or listening to these matches in the UK are BT Sport and BBC Radio 5 Live.
