LATEST:

As a result of no participation from the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final the following will take effect:

All contestants keep their number in the official Running Order. There will be NO song in position number 5.

The jury results, received after Dress Rehearsal 2 on Friday 10 May have been recalculated so that the Netherlands will not receive any points. This is why all jury members have to rank all songs from 1 to 26.

For example if the Netherlands was ranked 9th by a national jury in a country the 10th ranked song is now ranked 9th and will receive 2 points and the former 11th ranked song is now 10th and gets 1 point.

No points will be awarded to the Netherlands from the viewing public.

Viewers in the Netherlands are still allowed to vote in the Grand Final and the Netherlands Jury result in still valid.

The EBU will inform all telecommunications partners that the Netherlands is no longer participating, and we will endeavor to block the lines for Song 5. We ask that no one attempts to vote for Song 5. Should anyone try to vote for song 5 their votes will not count but there is a possibly viewers may be charged.

The Netherlands will not appear on the scoreboard.

The spelling error of "there is a possibly viewers may be charged" is quite sloppy from Eurovision - it's only a small mistake but many people will (and have already) read the tweet.

I suppose it shows how quickly the statement was drafted and points to some level of franticness behind the scenes.

(Although equally it is just a typo, so maybe I'm thinking about it too much 😅)

Screenshot of a Instagram? Tiktok? from BambieThug. Stating there was a situation before the flag parade rehearsal.

The Irish song was present in the afternoon dress rehearsal, but I assume that was a recording rather than a live performance

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2024 - UTVLifer - 11-05-2024

Even when I try and forget the events of the last 24 hours, I can't help but feel a bit cold and unexcited about tonight

SVT have essentially run this year's contest on autopilot, keeping last year's slogan, the bland visual identity and doing absolutely nothing to show off Sweden or it's culture in their first hosting in 8 years.

The interval acts have all felt a bit generic and don't really come together as part of any/the theme, even if they have been mostly enjoyable. The fact they've all been past contestants this year is particularly disappointing, it's almost like SVT are trying to ensure they don't get the call-up to help with a possible 70th anniversary special programme next year.

It's also quite funny that after years of Måns being omnipresent, the one year he chooses to stay away is when Sweden is hosting, with Charlotte Perrelli being the most featured former Swedish winner (taking part in the singalong, We Just Love Eurovision Too Much and the ABBA tribute tonight with Carola and Conchita)

Petra and Malin have been great but that was to be expected, at least for Petra, and I did throughly enjoy We Just Love Eurovision Too Much and the Tattoo sketch on Thursday.

This seems to be the situation that the Irish singer was concerned about

EDIT: As I post.

"The French participant Slimane gave a speech at the last rehearsal during his performance. He interrupted his number Mon Amour with a plea for peace and fraternization. By stopping his song and making a statement, he has not adhered to the rules for the Eurovision song contest, which prohibit political statements."

Honestly if I was the EBU I'd be running the jury rehearsal in place of the main broadcast tonight.

RE: Eurovision Song Contest 2024 - TIGHazard - 11-05-2024

On Friday evening, the delegations from Ireland, Great Britain, Switzerland and Portugal sat in crisis meetings with the Eurovision organizer EBU, according to VG's information. The four countries are said to have considered withdrawing from the competition.

The crisis meetings must have lasted late into the night.

The same countries were absent during the flag parade at the dress rehearsal.

Ireland's artist Bambi Thug posted an Instagram post on Saturday afternoon. It does not say what the talks with the EBU are about, only that it "was a situation" and that the EBU "has taken the matter seriously".

I haven't seen any other source mention this. But Norwegians are saying they are reliable (albeit a tabloid)
