That's just the longer animation for the live graphic, it's just not often used. You can see it when they refreshed the Victoria Derbyshire programme, in preparation for the Reith graphics for News in 2019.

Great to see a double headed Points West tonight with presenters interacting with each other. You forget how 'dull' single headed presentation can be.

Or the other job paid more? Don't get me wrong I'm sure having fun and working with others could be a selling point for anyone but these people don't spend just 50 minutes at work - they do a full day - sitting alone in a room talking to the public for half an hour each night is a small fraction of their day.

I doubt they moved elsewhere to sit on a sofa and spoonfeed the uneducated masses because there was someone else there.

Obviously it's the last time they - Alex Lovell and David Garmston - will present together in view of the former's impending departure to "the other side" (apologies for using that dated expression, but in local news, there's only two outfits in that game).

Agree with your point regarding dull single-headed presentation, given that double-headed news presentation is part of a news programme's USP, the "on-screen husband and wife".  Over the years, cost cutting has seen the erosion of double-headed news presentation on BBC (both regional and national) and Sky, though ITV still deploy double-headed presentation on the main regional news programmes.

I wonder if we shall see someone new appear to replace Alex or if we shall the likes of Amanda Parr or Liz Beacon popping up more.

Utilising the existing resources would be the way forward; bringing in a presenter from "outside" would not be a good look in more ways than one.

Points West looked alive this evening,  shows whats been lost (hidden by Covid) on the BBC Regional evenings.  What a way to treat the most watched TV News slot.

Edit: just watched the ending of Points West, with Davids " our journey together is sadly coming to and end" with a look between Alex and David. Deliberately double meaning? With her 3 or so more shows left at the BBC
