Thousands of dogs across East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire all wagged their tails in unison at the end of last night’s Look North.

This tweet from Clare Frisby shows how much space there is behind the cameras

I presume they still have camera operators for the evening programme, but there’s not much space for them! Still, has to be said, they’ve done a great job of making the most of a small studio.
In other news, I notice the moiré patterning during the weather seems to have gone.

How long will it take to make Leeds HD?

The cameras are remotely controlled from the gallery for 'tilt/zoom/up/down/left/right'.
I had a play with one from the gallery at the former ITV Westcountry building in Plymouth many years ago. The result made me seem like an unskilled drunk man operating a JCB.
I think the cameras are set in specific positions before each broadcast by the Floor Manager. With no operators in the studio, there is no need to waste space behind the cameras so most are right up against the walls.

Those background screens don’t seem right todays had some weird patterning going on, seemed a bit darker too with the lighting. and the presenter next to the screen looks weird it’s like they are controlling a big iPad.

Slightly odd this morning is that the Look North weather is one of those ‘all 3 Look North’s combined’ versions showing everywhere from North Norfolk to Cumbria
But Newcastle are broadcasting as normal and the version of the forecast Abbie is doing for them is the normal ‘NE & Cumbria’ map
As mentioned elsewhere the North West are joining us this morning but the combined weather map doesn’t cover their area anyway

The moire seems to have got worse, yesterdays forecast at the big screen was the worst yet really distracting, three weeks in and the lighting seems to be strange as well with some of the old issues resurfacing such as the light bouncing off the screens and todays breakfast bulletins looked really dark, so Leeds are back to their old ways only with a new set.

Mark Ansell presented the late Look North tonight, possibly a first? The national BBC One ident/CA was used rather than a Yorkshire one.
