But there aren’t headlines at this point – just a simple ‘Thank you, and welcome to Look North’ before the titles. It would seem that they’re possibly recording this and the intro to the first report from the tower screen.

Whether they’re supposed to do that or not, it doesn’t seem an especially complex sequence. So I don’t see why they’d need to pre-record it.

As far as I'm aware, they no longer record the headlines - it happened every day until one day the recording went wrong and they had to crash out of them to a very unhappy looking Christa in the studio... think it was stopped at that point!

Good spot re the 10pm update. I suspect the pre-title handover and the main story intro are being pre-recorded because of camera positioning? I guess there's no camera op in the studio at 10 and the opening shot includes a zoom plus background animation. LN Leeds also have live weather in the 10pm, unlike many, so the cameras will need to be locked off in those positions. From memory they have three main cameras (with autocues) and one smaller non-autocue camera (may have changed since I was last in the studio!).

Any idea when someone decides to find the HD button in Leeds no point having a fancy start of the art studio and it looks not the best to the viewers in their armchairs.

Sounds plausible. It does rather spoil the effect of cutting to the regional presenter from the video wall of nations and regions though (at least for a nerd like me).

Yes, I know. I presume they could record and then feed standing by the screen as the ISO to London, but that would be an added layer of difficulty!

Hopefully it's done in next year, and same for Hull too

A pan regional Look North tonight with Peter Levy from Hull.

Edit: Clearly not a last minute thing as the weather map was spanning across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Strange and unexpected, both why it was pan regional, and why Peter was working on a Saturday

RE: BBC/ITV Yorkshire and Lincolnshire News - Yorksman - 15-07-2023

Peter never worked Saturday's when he was a working machine at Woodhouse Lane back in the day did he?

RE: BBC/ITV Yorkshire and Lincolnshire News - Steve in Pudsey - 15-07-2023

Not routinely. It was a sport heavy bulletin, often presented by somebody with connections to the Sport Team.

Are they struggling for somebody to do a later then usual shift? I know Peter has covered strikes before.
