Over in Hong Kong, ViuTV6 drops 2 cartoons for the funeral. Not surprising, as it slots right before their 7pm newscast.

Into 7pm, ViuTV6 still in funeral mode until 1920, TVB News and OpenTV/Cable News are in picture-in-picture mode while continuing usual newscasts.

It’s surprising indeed because ViuTVsix seldom interrupts normal programming for a newsflash - the only one before the funeral was back in 2019 when the government there announced a mask ban aiming months of protests. And it’s expected that TVB Chinese news became the only station which didn’t put the funeral as the lead story.

Thursday 22 September is the Australian national mourning day for the Queen and there’s a memorial service in the morning. It was carried exclusively on ABC TV and its HD simulcast channel ABC HD, but the broadcast feed of the memorial service was in SD only.
