I'm wondering if they've just edited out what would be the next part of the film and the result left is that it looks like they showed some adverts, something fell over, then they showed some more ads.  Further on towards the end it loos like it crashes from a film slide into the Colour Presentation slide.

If it was a local transmission why would the transmission controller go from the End of Part slide to a local Colour Presentation? If it was a network film the network switcher would not put out an End of Part side/caption at the end of the final part. The Colour Presentatation slide looks (to me) as though it is being mixed over a completely different source. As I say, this clip does not make sense at all and looks like a potpourri of different bits and pieces edited together.

Just shows how far in advance some channels record their continuity announcements.

Just shows how far in advance some channels record their continuity announcements.

It's done on a 2 week turnaround usually for pre-recorded channels. (Getting the continuity media plan, writing to that plan, recording, send to playout, repeat). Any tighter and you might as well go live, which costs even more.

Most other countries don't even seem to have continuity announcers at all, live or recorded, it's a very British thing.

Trust me when I say this I'm aware of that (#dayjob). The only reason why it's still live on the main channels is the reactivity and constant change in the schedule when dealing with live programmes.

British/Northern European thing I'd say. Marketing still like it as it's another way of getting messages across other than promos which can cost a lot more money/time in creating them vs a microphone and a script.

Bit of a cock up on the ITV Evening News tonight when one of screens (to the right of Charlene) was showing an image she was taking about, all of a sudden it went black, to a caption saying "4 Strand Template" before reverting to the ITV News logo
