It’s being played out live from SA but I don’t know why, there are no live elements, short turn around I guess.

Extremely short turnaround on the edit so has to be played out on site, as per all fast turnaround reality shows.

I would have expected a show like this to have diverse routes to air to avoid problems like this. Unless the problem is at playout. Not good for a high profile launch show.

Ideal World's website is currently down, so the current overnight presentation on ITV just had around 5 minutes of filler at 2am.

It seems like they are now cracking on with occasional reminders to try telephoning in (probably a foreign concept now for most of the audience), but there still might be the possibility of an early cutaway by ITV.

In the meantime, you can probably email in and pester the presenters for the next three quarters of an hour or so, and get mentioned on air.

EDIT: Here's some prime ITV[1] entertainment...

EDIT 2: After half an hour, it's all fixed again. Even now, shopping channels are still the masterclasses for filling time.

For most people that would be a blessing Wink

Well shopping channels can fill with "this is what we have coming up for you, let's tell you about the steam cleaner we have hopefully later", that sort of thing and maybe chuck to a sister channel or some VT or whatever.

When Quiz TV was a thing, and the phone system fell over, the problem with the format was there was nothing to fill with. So the filling was quite often painful to watch. You can't say "we have this quiz coming up later" or introduce a piece of VT explaining about "the product", because you're not selling anything. It's always fun to see who's been there before, done that and who looked like a deer in a headlight when a Quiz TV channel broke down.

Seem to be some issues with Channel 4 today... Looooong pauses on the programme slates during ad breaks on Steph's Packed Lunch, including one instance in which they held the slate and then radiated the studio preparing for the next part for about 10 seconds...

Heh, "continuity media plan". No wonder it always sounds stilted and contrived.

Whatever happened to "here's a copy of the TV Times, wing it for 30 seconds. Oh by the way, you go on air in ten, and you actually have a minute 'cos the VT down the line has lunched itself"? lol.
Because it's not 1970's...  Smile

Simon Bird voiced the ident into The Simpsons, promoting his new series. However, the announcement seemed to get cut off halfway through, leaving the ident to play out.
