Channel 5 announcer heard talking over a PIF, telling one of his colleagues to log a cockup he made. Starts just under a minute in - and I assume he’s referring to the fact he forgot to make the announcement that was due at about the 30-second mark.

Just found out about how an STV announcer (Derek Smith) left his mic on during the first ten minutes of Coronation Street on Christmas Day 2006. The whole of Scotland was treated to him coughing, spluttering and rustling his papers. This concluded when he took a call saying "Hello, continuity." and something else (which was not specified on the original Digital Spy thread).

Didn't you know up until 2007 Coronation Street was delivered as a silent programme and the continuity announcer had to voice all the characters?

As least he didn't swear or say anything offensive, as has happened to far too many people over the years.

Something similar also happened with E4, although weirdly only on the HD feed.

I'd like to hear more instances of this happening, Certainly more entertaining than 'The Cleveland Show'.

They were talking about a national announcer leaving their mic on at the end of Corrie. Managed to find the TVF thread for this.

What's the betting that the phone call was from a certain Mr Currie?

During Corrie and on Christmas Day is one thing but how do people find out about all these incidents? Watching channels all day? Info posted online? Some people seem to know about incidents occurring at all hours and on different channels which are simultaneous.

This is Pres Cafe. This is what we do and what we've done for over 20 years in three different incarnations.
For the most part incidents are caught by accident, such as if you happened to record something and the breakdown was co-incidence.

I know the (a) purpose of the forum.
Not having a go. Just asking.
