On the subject of announcers, the lady who pre-records VOs for the Drama channel speaks painfully slowly, particularly over end credits. “Next on Drama…. we’re back in… Walford… with… the working class.. inhabitants… of… Albert… Square…. in… Classic….. East… Enders”. It seems a deliberate attempt to deliver the message clearly, but I’m sure she would never deliver a live announcement so slowly and deliberately. It doesn’t help, of course, that the very same VOEC is played out day after day!

I'm pretty sure she was the lady who announced the minute-silence for the majority of the UKTV channels (GOLD had their own). It worked then but I don't think it's necessary when dominating the Drama channel, especially if you're linking into something like 'Allo 'Allo!

Another example of accented ones are Christie who has started to do some afternoons on one and bbc three with her middle scouse accent
