That was an incredibly cold opening monologue from Gary Lineker, who is at the Al Bayt Stadium

In terms of opening titles, South Africa 2010 and Brazil 2014 had great titles especially from ITV.

Do you think they’ve deliberately made the coverage look cheap - the titles are poor and the studio is the size of a shoe box, good job they no longer have to be 2 meters apart.

Normally they go all out for the World Cup.

The BBC studio is the standard fare that they usually do at one of the lower league UK stadiums. Nothing special at all.

The studio looks much better now the lights in the stadium have been turned back on following the opening ceremony

I’m hoping that the BBC do have a proper full-sided studio somewhere as stadium studios always look small and cramped

They would also rather be in the stadium with a studio like this for all World Cups it’s logistics rather than budgets or politics that stops it.

The CBBC Broom Cupboard looked bigger than when Nicholas Witchell anchored the Great storm coverage from it.

Is someone laying out a buffet behind the camera, the sound is awful

It’s more or less a standard size for in stadium studios.

The high camera shot just doesn’t work in such a small space. That’s what promoted my comment.
