Okay, this is interesting
Actually, purple makes me think of the original News 24 straps rather than Daybreak 1.0 (ignoring TV-am).

I never minded the purple colour for ITV Daybreak, just the people and the ill-thought out reflective vista. I could see the autocue in the window behind the newsreader's desk and could read it before her. But that's all a matter for other threads and my odd ability to read/write reversed text. Tongue

Totems outside the studio sound interesting

Spoiler alert: Daybreak didn't fail because it used purple!

I think it would make it a lot better than leaving the bottom blank with just the time in the bottom right hand corner.

I doubt it considering it has all but disappeared on the news channel.  BBC Breakfast is refreshingly free of on screen junk and that suits it's gentle approach to morning TV.

It’s not the first time Breakfast has used purple on screen:

I think it will be a welcome change. Although to be honest, I’m just pleased we’re finally getting something new after 11 years of the same tired look.

The clock was purple only on the News 24 simulcast - it was red on BBC1.

That's actually quite close to what the colours are like.

Nice "regional news holding" bed and clips playing out when BBC One NI is meant to show Newsline, but due to industrial action can't.
