RE: Deal Or No Deal - eyeTV - 12-12-2023

I don't know if player selection is truly random, but it would seem kind of pointless being a new contestant this week when the run is ending when there are people who have been waiting to play since day 1.

Isn’t there still some contestants from Noel’s run that never got their turn?

Not really, as it’s most likely those contestants will get invited back for the next series.

I don’t think the selection is random, it wouldn’t be a clever idea to leave the casting of a show to chance. The is no logic in the producers doing it that way. The fact the deaf contestant was only there for a few days means they could probably only book the signers for a day or two.

I guess there must be from the last studio show. I know they finished off with the On Tour episodes so don't know if any of those contestants were from the wings.

This goes without saying - the 21 contestants from the final episode who weren't playing won't have got their turn.

It’s not quite true though. Deal on Tour was made up from contestants on the wings but there was only 10 episodes, but used members of the public to open boxes. So there must be around 12 who didn’t play.

Based solely on the way the Banker has worked in the revival so far, its definitely the same methodology as the early episodes of Noel's "Deal" from 2005: the Banker is only calling at the agreed points in the game and also only provides financial offers. Any special twists like Swap or Banker's Gamble are probably going to start showing up in future series, if they are commissioned.

I sincerely hope not. For me, the beauty of DOND is in its simplicity. Messing around with the format and having an endless stream of 'twists' just ruins it for me. It's why I stopped watching 'original DOND'; by the end, you had 'the offer button' after round one, 'box 23' at the end, and seemingly more "special episodes" with tenuous themes than standard editions. I want to see simple straightforward gameplay from the revival with none of this water-muddying personally.

I think offering the swap is fine and has been pretty much always been part of the format, although was only guaranteed with the jackpot in play at the end.

The Banker should be free to make jokey calls at appropriate times as well.

‘The Bankers Gamble’ or whatever they called it in the end is a good format point and should be in the shows arsenal but should be used sparingly.

I agree things like the offer button and Box 23 just complicate the game and don’t really add much. So anything like shouldn’t be brought back although the smaller twists in for example Christmas specials where contestants pick presents for an extra few grand are fine.

I'm not a fan of these above average offers at the end, or every offer having a couple of hundred quid added - so £30,100 instead of £30,000. That's just annoying unless there is a strategy behind such an offer, which so far there hasn't been.

What's that Noel? The Banker's Gamble has never been offered on the £250,000?
