I don’t think they’ll lower it, the point is it’s rare the show gives that away and it’s the average win that matters. Of course the average would reflect the jackpot but it would instantly be sending out a signal of being a budget version of the original.

I did think they might go up to £500,000 but that’s when I assumed they’re were going for prime time.

£250k was pitched so perfectly - if it had been £1m is skews the offers and the format doesn't work as well - as seen in the US they're turning down six figure sums early in the show.

I don't think the top prize will change - they might adjust some of the lower "power of 5" prizes or add a few more boxes to bring the average value down or be a bit tighter on the offers, but I can't see things changing much.

With inflation the prizes are cheaper than 2005 anyway.

It's back! Stephen Mulhern will be the host. No confirmation yet on timings and when it will air.

The actual press release is here:

Note it says 'Each week, a contestant is confronted with 22 sealed boxes' so sounds like it may be a weekly primetime show.

Edit: eyeTV beat me to it

This quote from the itv press release suggests this might be a weekly show rather than daytime stripped programme.

Quote:Each week, a contestant is confronted with 22 sealed boxes, each one hiding a different amount of money.

Time will tell if the revival will prove to be as popular as the show was in it's peak years around 2007-ish.
Interestingly they state that the show's going to take place in a "new setting", with that I assume the Dream Factory's been retired.
"New prize boxes" also sounds kinda intriguing. So are the boxes getting a redesign or something? I wonder how the arcades that still have those mini bootlegs will react to that if so.

As someone who has a mum that watches ITV daytimes on a regular basis (and someone who can tell the time by the ITV schedule), that is indeed true.

Also finally the DOND website has changed! It just has applications for the show but they had it up for years after the show ended without bothering to change it or take it down so it's nice to see a change.

The application form states :-

'If you are selected to participate in the show filming will take place at dock10 studios in Manchester in the first two weeks of July 2023. You may be required for all filming dates during that first two weeks so please only apply if you are able to make yourself available. Travel expenses and hotel accommodation, if required, will be covered by the production.'

Wonder if that means the contestants will be on the wings and only some will get selected to actually play, two weeks sounds like an unusually long time just to film one series though if it is only on once a week...

RE: Deal Or No Deal - Jon - 27-03-2023

The thing is if the original run wasn’t recommissioned after it’s first series there would have been contestants left on the wings that didn’t get to play and indeed when the show was finally axed there were contestants left who didn’t get to play. Surely they’ll tell people they aren’t guaranteed to play if they don’t get a second series.
