I could understand the BBC being a bit sore about seeing the Jordan North & Chris Stark Breakfast Show on Capital, especially having nurtured the talent.
I know people leaving for better paid jobs happens in every industry, but the BBC's constrained financial position must be playing a part here.

Both we're moving to different slots so not competing against their old show and in Chris's case the move with Scott to Rafio 2 wasn't on the cards.
I get not having a long goodbye but it's insulting to Jordan, his colleagues and his fans not to give him a final week on air. Even more frustrating if we would be paying for his 'gardening leave".
I know Vick and Jordan both said around September they'd signed up for another year, so we're about half way through that. Suspect Global may pay it out to release him early.

The great irony of hiring Jamie Laing as Jordan’s replacement, of course, is that he’s actually older than North. On a youth-facing radio station.

That would be great irony if Jordan had been let go for for being too old. Which, of course, he hasn't. So really the fact Jamie is *checks wikipedia* a staggering 15 months older than Jordan is just an irrelevant observation, not irony.

Jordan himself is three years older than Roman Kemp (who is 31) who must have started very young on the Capital show.
I do find Jamie Laing one of the more tolerable reality stars and he's OK as an occassional stand in on Matt and Mollie for example and I think has stood in for Jordan alongside Vick Hope too, but this just doesn't feel like the solution.
As for who now succeeds from Greg James - perhaps Dean McCullough at the front of the queue now? He's been covering a bit more often recently.

Shame about Jordan leaving, I do think he is more than likely going to Capital. I also think it is a shame he didn't get to say goodbye as there was so much love for the guy at Radio 1.

They can bring back whoever they want to replace Gregg when the time comes. Staying somewhere just to be Breakfast Show host in waiting isn't a sensible thing thing to do and rarely works out (Scott Mills). He will be highly paid at Capital and gain heaps of Breakfast show experience.

Interesting that the post specifically thanks "colleagues/talented producers", his fellow presenters in a big list and the listeners but not Radio 1 itself.
