As mentioned this isn't true. Most ITV companies did not put the copyright date on the endcap but several did - most notably TTTV but as mentioned STV as well, and I believe Border did as well for a whole. I don't think it was ever a rule.

It looks a bit naff with the copyright date in a different font. Clearly not in line with the EMP guidelines for the 1989 generic look - not that they were adhered to well across the network.

That footage of the studios has been shown many times down the years on Tyne Tees during anniversaries and the like, the shot of the slightly odd director with the slick black hair and shades being ingrained in the memory. TT had a reputation, and attracted a lot of criticism for making documentaries that portrayed the region as grim - I guess this was an exemplar!

Huh, I didn't know the original Tyne Tees logo ever appeared in colour. Didn't they introduce the stacked TTTV logo as soon as colour launched?

That's what I thought, yeah. Which would mean the previous logo should've never appeared in colour. Maybe that programme was an early experiment before they started colour broadcasting?
