It does still exist. Online only now though except for a few places in Scotland where it replaced Greatest Hits Radio on DAB due to GHR taking over some local secondary stations.

I'm guessing there's some sort of audience for it, but I don't know why Bauer keep it going. They only seem to use it to fill a space in multiplexes.

Capital Scotland are based there. Airing their weekday drive time show from 4pm to 7pm, but that's about it. 

Global's main headquarters will always be 30 Leicester Square in London, with the small regional offices for the localised drive time shows. 

I doubt if they plan to bring more networked shows to these smaller offices.
The smaller regional studios do get used occasionally for networked shows when presenters can't get back to London in time for their shows. Chris Moyles has used a few. 

I believe their Bristol centre is much larger than the others as its a disaster recovery site for their networks should Leicester Square be out of action.

There was a Smash Hits Radio alongside Heat Radio. Heat apparently it's part of the Kiss network, which seems odd. 

I'm surprised they haven't expanded the Hits brands, a few years ago they did a festival weekend linking Hits, Greatest Hits and Country Hits. The latter has since become Absolute Country. 

Not sure it really fits in with the Absolute network either

Giving the Absolute network the country station was very much the consolation prize for taking away their London FM licence and giving it to GHR.

Possibly, although I notice from the Wikipedia page about Kiss, that both Kerrang and Planet Rock (along with Heat) are part of the Kiss Network

I think this is purely from a sales point of view... I guess with Hits taking so many of the FM outlets, they use these stations to boost the proposition of the Kiss Network.

Probably also historic, with Hits/GHR previously being the ‘Big City Network’, largely run out of Manchester/Glasgow, with the other (can’t remember a name, something like ‘passion network’ maybe?) covering the specialist/national brands like Kiss and Kerrang, mostly based in London.
