Here is the article on the RTÉ News website. One of the best, he’ll be missed.

The coverage of Referendum 2024 on RTÉ One has begun this morning.

The first programme of the coverage just begun at 10:30am. It will last for an hour until 11:30am.

The second showing of Referendum 2024, which will probably last until Nuacht, will begin at 3:30pm.

It opened with Miriam O'Callaghan who is in the grounds of Dublin Castle. Sharon Tobin is in a panel of analysts in Studio 3.

Presentation wise: There are a very small amount of tweaks to the graphics so far.

The graphics in studio 3 haven't changed that much really. The new live bugs are present on the coverage.

There is also a big Referendum 2024 logo coloured in white, blue and yellow in the bottom left of the screen.

This man was one of the finest journalists within this era. Life can be so cruel sometimes.

RIP Charlie Bird. You will be greatly missed. Sad

Here's RTE's obit package.

He was one of those relatively few on-the-ground reporters in the TV age who ended up becoming a national institution and a household name in his own right.

Such was his stature, he was more often than not part of the story - infact, you could argue he was the news.

We won't see his like again. RIP.

RE: Irish TV News Discussion 2.0 - Brekkie - 20-03-2024

Was there any schedule disruption for the surprise resignation of the Irish PM this morning?

RE: Irish TV News Discussion 2.0 - Rdd - 20-03-2024

I believe the RTE One schedule was broken into alright, and the RTE News channel covered it.

Expect lots on tonight’s Six One and Nine, and wouldn’t be surprised if a Prime Time is added to the schedule.

They were streaming an RTE News Special at midday when i checked online.

Shame we don't have many pres fans in Ireland as I've never seen a programme being interrupted for a news report on Irish TV.
